The Dominion's rise, and rapid expansion was one of a unprecidented success, only minor casualties were inflicted up their forces, and the territorial gains that had been accomplished had given them access to vast deposits of raw materials. This, in turn, fueled the economic expansion of the dominion to greater heights.

Now, the task of rebuilding was at hand. The resources required to do so, they had access to, and they had the land to buind and rebuild on.
The dominion starts to reconstruct the cities that had been damaged in the past, focussing on compact, high density cities, incorporating various defensive measures into them.

The dominon also sets about repairing and improving the infrastructure of their territory, making it so that travel times for materials and such is as short as they can make it within their current abilities. The costruction of drydocks is inculded in this, without them, they cannot build the cargo ships needed to trade vast quantities of goods to the other nations of the globe.

Basic meteorlogical sattelites are to be assembled and launched, mostly as a test of our current RLV (Reusable launch vehicle) technology toi test viability of those designs.

First wave of nuclear power plants are to be constructed with the reactor technology currently on hand, scheduled to be de-commissioned around 20 years of service for replacement. The waste product is to be stored deep underground, away from any inhabited areas.

Yearly Report: 2021

Spoiler: The Sky Lords (click to show/hide)

The Skylords had observed the Nuclear fire that obliterated the World's cities from high up in their spacestations. Barring a small mechanical failure, their city would've shared the same fate, but they didn't know this. As the world burned beneath them, they looked upon it, but didn't nothing. This trend continued for quite some time, as the councils endlessly discussed, failing to reach any sort of desicision. The only thing that was decided was to send a research and diplomatic team to the 80-15-5 Republic, but even that mission wasn't spared from disaster. Shortly before arriving, the lead scientist died of a heart related disease. This had severe repercussions on the science team, and no progress was made.

Spoiler: The New Order (click to show/hide)

With single minded focus the New Order started work on their Spaceprogram. Nuclear thrusters were designed and tested, and in the end 3 candidates remained. Both Cereberus A and B relied on a traditionall Nuclear reactor, with the key difference being that first was openended. This reduced costs tremendously, but had the negative effect of a rather radioactive exhaust. The last engine is an entirely different beast. A Gasbased nuclear reactor, this thing has a significantly larger power output, but at the cost of increased cost and failure rates. The science team awaits your descisiion on which installation they should develop further.

Spoiler: The 80-15-5 (click to show/hide)

Construction of refugee housing progresses rapidly, and within the year several new small cities arise. Sadly, the quality of the housing is often subpar, and the influx of new workers disturbs the local economy. In order to make things worse, utilities like water and power can't deal with increasing demand, and crime's on the rise as well. In some places, the new cities are being locked of like Ghettos. Something will need to be done about that, before the situation escalates completely.

The advertisement gets a single reaction from The Panama Canal compagny. Apparently shipping has been beset by pirates lately, and they want you to take them out. Sadly, they don't have much funds to pay you, and would like to settle for another form of payement.

Spoiler: NEAR (click to show/hide)

Your nation manages to construct a line of rather advanced fossil fuel consuming vehicles, though they do tend to have problems with dust clogging up air intakes.

Spoiler: Eirectic (click to show/hide)

Reconaissance drones scout out the intended targets as the main drones are moved into position. While the Isle of Man will be fairly ease to conquer, Iceland is another beast entirely. Forces from the European federation have tremendously fortified it, because the geothermal power generated there provides a significant part of their power.

On the other hand, the rebuilding project goes kinda well, the last subway installations are dredged and reclaimed, and houses are constructed where ruins once stood. The innerparts of the city are however still to heavily contaminated to be reclaimed. Nanobot research advances fast, and about over the year several breakthroughs are made. There's selfhealing concrete, antirust steel, but most importantly a graphene producing nanoid.

As the world shivers from the Nuclear disaster, Mongolia gears up for war. The army is rapidly modernized, bombers and jets are being created, and large stocks of Khan's breath are created. Then, in late Summer of 2021, the attack finally starts. 200 Million die in the initial days of the war, as all major cities are gasbombed. The attack suprises the divided Chinese forces, and within a few days 4 of the 17 Chinese Kingdom's have been overrun. It's at that moment when the attack looses it's momentum, and begins to slow down, forces are being spread thin, and resistance becomes harder. Not much later, you get a message. The Chinese order you to withdraw immediatly, less they'd return fire with Nuclear weaponry.

In the mean time the Propaganda offices manages to make up for most losses, and the new troops are being trained. The amount of workless is dropping rapidly.

Spoiler: USSA (click to show/hide)

New planes and armoured vehicles are being constructed. A lot of promising designs have been delivered, and it's know yours to specify which ones 'll go in production.

Extensive grants towards the Oil and chemical sector prove to be a succes. Several major players propose to build a massive joint petrochemical plant, which on it's own 'll be able to handle almost 5% of the production. On the exploitation field, many drillings take place, resulting in the discovery of a new major oil field. Problem is that the majority is in very inaccesible and untainted areas.

The pressure about the urgency of their task, or maybe the massive grants, cause the research team to make several landmark breakthroughs. They design a modified filter system based on the fish farms water filters, which uses a monomolecular membrame to sift radioactive particles from the water. On the other side, the genetic manipulation team has a succes with their particle eridicating bacteria, which locks up ash and dust into the riverbed, where it should stay till it can be removed.

Wooden refugees communities are set up, preventing what would likely have been a major human disaster. Sadly, the lack of utilities proves a major problem for these new camps.

Spoiler: Australian Dominion (click to show/hide)

From the Ashes of the past the Dominion rises, an allknowing all controlling governement, which uses a military dictature to ensure compliancy of it's citizens. New cities rise from the ground, the highest of it's buildings reaching into the sky, the ground reserved for transport vehicles, forcing the citizens to move through the automated underground towards their destinations. Bomb shelters have been build into the latter, while the open ground areas allow a military free movement. Unless, of course, the dominion doesn't want this. Using automated gates, they can lock down any part of the city at will.

On the coasts, the largest of docks arise, capable of building even the largest ship's within the year. Materials from this are brought by train, using a series of cross country high speed tracks, or by car, considering the large empty driveways.

The RLV proves capable, though it's payload is small compared to the rocket's of other nations.* The Earth seen from space is a beautifull thing, even with the damage done recently. It's however interesting to note that space is not as empty as it once was, and the RLV has to be carefull not to hit anything or anyone. The weather sattelite works admirably, though it's registering very strange readings and interference near the Eastern Atlantic, most notably over Florida.

The Nuclear reactor's are under construction, however, due to the severly limited lifetime, and in order to still be cost effective, corners needed to be cut. Many are refitted older plants, or incorporated in defunct buildings. While they are safe for now, it's doubtfull that they'd pass any security test.

*A result of the Longitude at which is it launched

[Note: Map's and such are not updated, and the post is a bit more barebones than I intended. But anyway. Might rewrite parts later, but nothing much should change.]

That was...not ideal.

Try to ascertain the situation groundside. Fix any obvious problems we can.

Send a healthier group of scientists to do the research stuff.

Aha! This is good, unless it isn't. We need more, though. First, this C model, C is for Cerberus. Refine it, drive up the length of use and down the cost and failure rates. Now, we need a way to people the Exodus. For that we need a living module. Something long-term, but most importantly, something safe from the enemies. They are everywhere, even in the vacuum! Finally, we need building facilities, and materials! Begin work on a large ship construction facility. It must be safe, yes. Space! Orbit is safe. We will need resources, though. Resources are available, improve the efficiency. Now, what else? Is everything safe? It is not safe enough! We need more safety, and that means more defenses! Weapons are good defenses, yes. Make better weapons! Put them on helicopters, be ready for when they come. Is everything safe now? Are the Purifications working? Should be safe for now, but not forever! Send a delegation, yes, to the Sky Lords! We need safety for the Exodus. Out of sight, out of mind. Work together, make cloaking fields. Cloak spacecraft, make them safe. Safe for now, we have work to do! Fire up the science pods, start working!

Refine Cerberus C for decreased cost and failure rate and increased longevity. Create long-term habitation module. Begin building orbital construction station. Increase mining effort. Work on aerial weapon improvements. Ask Sky Lords for coop research of spacecraft cloaking device.

The USSA green lights a massive four engined cargo plane for their utility vehicle, naming it Project 211. It was difficult to choose a new heavy tank, but they went with a thickly armoured heavy tank with a large 150mm gun. The new APC has space for ten, a 40mm auto cannon and comes in a number of varieties. Ambulances, cranes, even a few preliminary designs for bridging vehicles. But, Alaska's research had to go somewhere. Alaska's Military science board puts it's work into armoured radiation suits. The industry began to pump out these early models, and munitions too. Then, food was saved up and given to the government in a plan. Military transport planes airdrop crates of tinned food and leaflets sporting a message from the president offering them peace and sanctuary in exchange for coming into the USSA. The navy also mobilises, sending scouts to survey the Siberian coast. Subs are sent to far eastern Russia to scout and survey the land there. Finally, the government greenlights the petrochemical plant.

The Dominion was getting civilisation onto it's feet, slowly but surely. Only by continuing to strengthen it's foothold upon the world would it truly be able to expand and continue to thrive. There would always be a need for more resources, more manpower and more knowledge.

High capacity cargo ships are to start being constructed, Along with a decent-sized fleet of destroyers, escort carriers and battleships. The entire fleet, both merchant and military, is to be made submersible in order to prevent piracy and to keep the fleets hidden from normal view. If possible, the plating should also be SONAR-absorbant, in order to reduce the effectiveness of conventional detection technology.

Then, there was the issue of the signals that the satellite found, while troubling, could be ignored in the short-term, while the increase of orbital infrastructure in the dominion was a focus. This would be a slow process, but one that was vital to continued operations.

The dominion starts launching prototypical kinetic bombardment satellites, while also attempting to build the control facility for the satellites as an orbital facility, in order to prevent any potential sabotage to the orbital defense network. The design for the control center is to be made as a modular facility, able to not only accommodate further modules, but that the manufacturing process is easier.

The next issue of concern was the state of the Dominion military. While well-equipped, it lacked the numbers to be a truly effective. A joint effort of recruitment and increased manufacture of infantry robots would be required to swell the ranks of the Dominion military. Alongside this would be an initiative to attempt an aerial mechanized division, a trial to see if a truly mobile combined arms division was feasible

An joint increase of recruitment and robot manufacture is mandated to increase he numbers of the dominion military, alongside the equipment needed for said troops to fight effectively without supply shortages. Paired with this initiative is a theoretical aerial mechanized division, consisting of heavily armoured gunships and more lightly armed IFAs (Infantry fighting Aircraft). The entirety of the vehicles within this division must either be helicopters or VTOL aircraft, in order to maintain a sustainable level between combat effectiveness and speed.

Another issue was the dominion's industrial capability. With the ability to manufacture any equipment, it would slowly grind down to a halt and from there, regress. New factories, alongside more mines and automation of both the mines and factories so that the manpower they had manning both would be more efficient. These facilities would be powered by the newest reactors that the Dominion had to offer.

The dominion increases it's industrial capabilities by opening new mines on mineral-rich locations, and by opening up new factories. Both existing mines and factories, along with the ones scheduled to be built, are to be partially automated to allow for the same amount of workers to operate more efficiently.

Next, was for the Dominion to kickstart it's technological development. It's choice to focus upon physical development in the previous year had paid off, providing a stable base for which to boost new technological innovations off of.

The Dominion starts researching ways to improve their current robotics technology, preferably searching for an ideal infiltration chassis for undercover ops. Preliminary investigation into directed energy weapons is also to be pursued. Other topics of interest are cold fusion generators, improved protective compounds/alloys and a preliminary investigation into the viability FTL physics.

The urban reconstruction was a success in every vital area, however, the work with those was not yet over. The second step would to make these cities bigger and better, providing the Dominion not only a safe, desirable place to live for it's citizens, but the propaganda value of such thriving cities would surely bring down the amount of refugees scattered around the Australasian region.

Continue to renew and improve the urban centers of the dominion, making the "Arcology" cities safer, more desirable, efficient and generally a nicer place to live. If we can make the aesthetics look more pleasing to the human eye, so much the better.

With domestic affairs sorted, the Dominion turned outwards for the first time, sending two broadcast messages to other, supposedly important nations.

At the start of the next phase of Alaskan mobilisation, a radio message was heard broadcasted from a location, sadly untraceable. Mentions of a trade deal were irresistible. Just as the government was about to broadcast on the same channel, another message was heard. Nuclear Retaliation? This was immensely worrying. The board of advisors deemed that another nuclear war was too much to handle. A broadcast on the same frequency was broadcast.

The Khan swore at the new reports.  He was hoping his generals would have taken most of China by now.  He would need to pull his soldiers back, but he didn't want this campaign to go to waste...the Khan sent a message to the dynasties of China and the Dominion.

To the allied dynasties of China and the Dominion:
Enclosed is a map that displays the distribution of mongolian people before we struck.  We wish to retain the areas that contain large amounts of people of mongolian descent, displayed in red.  I will have my troops leave any other areas that we have conquered go to the new borders.  We hope that you accept this, for we will defend it.  Do not forget, China, that you are the ones who struck at us first when you heard of the climatic change within the country of Mongolia.

I can state that, as long as we are not struck at first, we will not utilize Khan's Revenge against any country.
-The Khan of Mongolia

With the message sent, the Khan sent a message to research facilities to produce a missile sheild utilizing laser technology (highest priority), along with ordering work to be done to continue work upon the Mongolian Space Program (low priority).

[Further actions to come once I know the response to message to Dominion and China]

The elected monarch of Eiretic has begun discussions with his council of minister's and defense advisors, over plans for operation "Coldfin" for the invasion of Iceland after invasion plans for Isle of man are dismissed due to being a waste of resources and time. CRD initiative and tax policy's have been debated in the Dail(congress) and were signed into law by the monarch. Other discussion such as national development plans, social poilcy's and engery plans have been ongoing in committee stage and will be introduced some time late this year.

Eiretic begin's positioning and launching aerial drones(containing nanoids designed to eat metals and stones) over the nation of Iceland followed by sending our troops to capture key positions.

Begin decontaminating the rest of Londain followed by rebuilding the foundations and basic layouts of the wiped out city of Ballyfast(Belfast) using the new nanoid's developed to help speed up the process.

Begin development of project nova: by setting out large regions of Eiretic deciated to wind power and make free childcare, increase in income taxes by 10% and setting up social welfare system for unemployed people at 2/3 of average yearly salary

Using the remaining unassigned scientists and government budget to research and experiment on human cloning and DNA manipulation to try increase the population of Eiretic and give them genetical changes.

Raimonds Ozolynsh grinned. Thanks to the sterling efforts of the science teams, some of the Republic's biggest concerns were to be finished, once and for all. He put the finishing touches to a few letters, signed them with his name, and send for them to be delivered.
Spoiler: to all countries (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: To The Dominion (click to show/hide)

With that taken care of, The key scientists involved in last year's breakthroughs are awarded the highest scientific award our country possesses - The Aidens prize. They are then instructed to attempt to find a way of applying the methods discovered, or some other method, to land and the air. With luck, the problems caused by radiation could be a thing of the past.
Meanwhile, Several of the Navy's mine-layers are modified to carry and drop
Special canisters of the newly-discovered/modified/whatever bacteria, and will attempt to methodically cover as much of the Baltic sea as possible in this timespan. A few trawlers will also be modified to pick up the weighed-down particles from the sea bed, to be disposed of. The filters will also see widespread installation around ports and places where it is easy to set them up.

Turning to the refugee problem, New water mains will be dug to them
from the nearest body of water, utilising the new filters [priority use for the filters]. If the Dominion trade deal is accepted, then the reactors will be used to provide electricity for the refugee settlements. If not, well, erm....

With those orders sent out, Raimonds sat back at his desk, and began preparing notes for his next televised speech...

Dear President Ozolynsh of UBR,

We send our thanks on behalf of our monarch for the schematics and prototype of waterborne radiation protection you have send all the nations in effort to combat global radiation levels and wish your nation well in your latest developments and happiness, as a show of graditude we the people of Eiretic have decided to send you schematics and working models of construction nanoids and nanite research to help you in your development projects as they are truely effective by being anti-rust, concrete steel self healing.

We also look forward to hearing your thoughts on C.R.D.I and hope you accept our offer in joining a international research initiative.

Yours Sincerely,

The Khan began to think about the development of the defensive grid.  He then recalled the message sent by the Eiretic monarch about the proposal for the collaboration on research, and sent the following message to the monarch:

To the Monarch of Eiretic,

I would like to determine the location of the research facility that would be utilized for the technological advancement collaboration.  We are attempting to create laser-based technology to defend against nuclear and non-nuclear missile technology.  This would be beneficial to both of our nations, though it may be slightly more important to my nation at the current time due to threat of nuclear attack by both the dynasties of China and the nation of the Dominion.  If the chinese agree to the truce that I have sent to them, then I can make a strike into Siberia to secure the land to construct the research facility, if that is an acceptable, neutral location.  If not, then you can suggest another location.

To the Khan of Mongolia,

Thank you for your quick letter you have sent us and we with the help of advisors and current global trends have narrowed down the list of acceptable sites to be either in Canada, Korea, Germany, Siberia or New Zealand as they are easy to access by all members, have low radiation levels and have good natural sources.

The proposal of laser-based technology sounds intriguing for war and engineering purposes and would happily support it, we are about to ship over some of recent schematics on drone weaponary and nanoids along with researchers to help with your laser technology if you approve of this, We would also think you be intrested in human cloning and dna manipulation research as it could greatly benfit your army.

We wish you well in your affairs in Asia and hope to get a reply soon.

Your's Sincerely,
-Elected Monarch of Eiretic.

To the Monarch of Eiretic,

We thank you in advance for the technological schematics that you are going to send us.  However, we would like for you to wait until the research facility is developed before we exchange the schematics in order to prevent hostile parties from gaining the information and using it against us.  The facility shall be constructed with upmost haste once we get the response of the chinese, if it is favorable and peace is attained.
