"And? So the entire Mongolian state thought it acceptable to continue a vicious cycle of bloodshed and violence. If you even THINK that the use of biological weapons is acceptable to use in retaliation, I think you need to excuse yourself to a monastery for several years to think about your actions and their consequences."

A new voice spoke up, almost choking with laughter.
"This is HILARIOUS! No, seriously, there is a remarkable proportion of what sound like death-threats and insults in A DISCUSSION ABOUT WORLD PEACE!

Oh, and if 'the plan' needs nukes, perhaps they are needed to blast off a space ship out of the atmosphere so conventional engines can take over. as long as the ship is capable of withstanding the nuclear blast, and you really don't care about the place you're taking off from."

I would ask why fire can burn two men to death without getting hot enough to burn a book, but then I read "INEXTINGUISHABLE RUNNING KAMIKAZE RADIOACTIVE FLAMING ZOMBIE" and realized that logic, reason, and physics are all occupied with crying in the corner right now.

The president flicked a hand and the two paratroopers behind him readied their weapons.
" May I remind everyone here that this is a conference for diplomacy. Do not get aggressive, or this meeting will be called off. Now, this ' Great Plan ' you speak of, why can we not be told of it's specifics? If it is for the good of all mankind, then we deserve to know."

"As the speaker for The Sky Lords, I agree. As my own, personal statement, there are also methods FAR less likely to render the launch site irradiated, destroyed, or otherwise unuseable."

In order for the Great Plan to work, none who might wish to harm humanity must know of it. If they did, we would not be safe. The only people who know of the Great Plan are myself and a few top workers who are sworn to secrecy. We do not know who might wish to harm the salvation of humanity. Even if you yourself do not, you may tell others who might. If you discuss it, you might be eavesdropped upon. If the gist of the Great Plan were revealed, it would most likely compromise it eventually. If certain details were revealed, we would already have failed. So you see the cost of telling you is too great.

"Well, any plan which is so mysterious that even the general gist ruins everything sounds like mas murder, conquest, or else some kind of smokescreen for the real plan, which you just don't want to tell us. So, you see the cost of us blindly believing you is too great."

Who would we murder or conquest, and what would we not want to tell you about?

We don't have a strong occupying force, and we wouldn't gain anything from murdering any of you. We do, however, have one of the best scientific programs. Our nation is also based on keeping humanity safe. If we cannot tell you our Great Plan, we do not see how else we might persuade you. We have not researched any sort of destructive weapons beyond a spacecraft armament to protect ourselves with. We have not shown agression towards other countries. What more do you want?

"Let me dissect that.

"You don't have a strong occupying force? You do, however, have weapons, including spacecraft armaments which could hold the whole world hostage. Who dares disobey a man who could wipe out whole cities if it pleased him?

"You don't have anything to gain from murdering us? What about the Great Plan? What about people outside of this room?

"You have one of the best scientific programs? So what?

"You're based on keeping humanity safe? So what could you need nukes for? And you're also assuming we believe you, which--for we Sky Lords, I should say--means that that argument is about as solid as water in space.

"You haven't researched 'destructive' weapons past the spacecraft armaments? What more do you need? And it's not like you need the newest, shiniest toys to kill people--clubs, swords, and even rifles work just as well, y'know?

"And you claim not to have shown aggression towards other countries. Even if this is 100%, pure-lily-white truth, it doesn't cover the future.

"So yes, some idea of what your Great Plan would be a great step in earning our trust. I like to know what nukes might be used for."

The New Order sees that you are being irrational, Sky Lords. Wipe out whole cities? Hold the world hostage? The weapon in question is a short-range missile launcher with a warhead designed exclusively to pierce spacecraft hulls which might attack us. Why is it that you insist on spreading lies? What are you hiding?

"Oh, right, I forgot that gravity doesn't work in orbit. Oh wait, it does. And don't say it'll just burn up in the atmosphere; it's possible to avoid that, and that's hardly the only weapon you could be housing up there--or the most practical, given that the number of functional spaceships in this world is maybe five times the number of people in that room, and the number of those intended for war lower than the number of ears on my head.

"...Also, I wasn't aware that that was what you were referring to. Regardless, there's still the issue of how all this argument relies on, among other things, trusting someone who has given us no reason not to and who gleefully admits to concealing information!"

And you forget about a thing called re-entry. Besides, these missiles aren't exactly silo scaled, and they're armed with drills. Of the number of functional spaceships in the world, all of them are yours. Regardless, you do nothing here but keep demanding information. I will not compromise the Great Plan. However, your constant lack of constructivity here is irritating me. If you don't trust me sufficiently, tell me why you don't trust me, instead of banging your head against a wall. I'm not quite so sure anymore that this pact was a good idea.

"Again, there's ways to make them survive; you could also have other things up there; and I don't trust you because I have no reason to do so. I don't trust random people I don't know with nukes, and I certainly don't trust them if they say stuff that sounds vaguely like they're going to take over the world 'for its own benefit'. Even if it wasn't for that--even if it wasn't for this Plan--I wouldn't trust you with nuclear weapons from what I know of your nation, because I know almost nothing about its motives."
