In the end though 'citizen' friendly is extremely prejudiced and subjective.

Let's say it's the 1933 in Germany, wouldn't that be a wonderful country for whoever is an Aryan Nazist believer?
At the same time 'insert country' is really the den of all happiness, if you are in the 'niche' of 'believers' that caters to them.
(Substitute with country name, ranks, and religion of choice)

Just like in Italy being the son of a politician means that you live in a wonderful country filled with honesty and love!

“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.
“There, I did something. I clapped. I like clapping,” he said. -The Investigator And The Case Of The Missing Brain.

You might be familiar with Chinese cuisine thanks to the immigration, but how familiar are you with the way they raise their kids in China, or what their perspectives on the world are over there, or all the little things that make them different?
Very?

I never claimed that the U.S was anywhere near non-corrupt, but I suppose my posts may come off that way. I tried to explicitly state that we have massive problems. I was just trying to argue against the notion that we're somehow incredibly corrupt in comparison to the rest of the world.

I haven't really travelled out of the USA, but it seems to me a pretty nice country.
I mean, I'm a kid so I'm sure there is a lot of terrible stuff I don't/didn't notice, but generally even as part of the lowest income bracket I have lived a good life.
I feel confident about being able to improve my situation when I grow up.

Also I'm not sure France really belongs on that list so much. I suppose it's probably not a horrible country, but it's definitely a nation that has some big issues.
I've also got a little bit of a personal vendetta against the place.
I wouldn't say that France is the best country, but it's pretty well-rounded, with not a lot of criminality, great healthcare, lots of strikes.

All in all, it kinda depends on what you value the most : freedom, safety, help, etc. I can't really think of a country that would be great on everything.

Except there are plenty of places where poverty isn't criminalized, healthcare is easily accessible to everyone, due process is applied consistently, justice focuses on rehabilitation instead of exploitation for profit, police brutality is rare and taken seriously, etc etc etc.  I've been talking to people from around the world every day since I first got internet 17 years ago.  When I talk to people from various other places about the problems we deal with here on a regular basis (so regularly that most Americans think these problems must surely be universal, right?), I am often met with shock and disbelief.  How am I supposed to believe that we compare favorably to the rest of developed nations?

Unless you're upper middle class to rich, the adult life you can expect in America is this:  Work 50-70 hours per week.  Come home frustrated with the abuse you suffer from your employer that you can't stand up to because workers have zero rights, and without time/energy to do anything more than watch tv/play video games for a couple hours.  Allowed a couple sick days a year, and maybe a week of vacation.  Likely go most of your life without health insurance, and live in abject terror of any serious health issue.  Not for the sake of damage to your health, but because it results in complete financial ruin for the rest of your life.  Fear the law if you plan on doing anything more interesting than going to work and returning home to sit in front of a screen.

Adding to the previous page, the travel statistics highly dependent on what you count as a continent. For example, is the Carribean part of America(same for all other islands), or does the Southern part of the Mediterranean sea count. If it doesn't, that'd cut out a lot of travellers.

That seems, really extreme. Criminalized poverty borders on absurd hyperbole.

Try talking to anyone who has ever been homeless.  One of the problems I've heard from people who have survived that situation is it's near impossible just to find a decent place to rest.  They can only stop anywhere for a brief period until someone shoos them away for loitering.  No one wants them on their private space or bringing eyesore to public space.  So they have little time/energy to find ways to improve their situation, because they're always being shuffled from place to place.  Add to that in some places it's illegal both to forage for food and to offer the homeless food.  And that's just the tip of the iceberg.  Here's a report by The National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty that goes into great detail about the prevalence of legal efforts targeted almost exclusively at the poor.

And don't take this as America bashing.  What I'm saying is I don't understand how America could possible by a candidate for the thread title.

If I were a more conspiratory person, I might almost point out how that seems designed to force homeless into "commit minor crime to get sent to prison mode". Which a certain prison business profits from.

Oh, I believe I said it. I guess I am that consoiratory after all.
