Well, in the 18th and 19th centuries Japan was pretty well behind the technological curve, in part due to isolation and in part for cultural reasons (*cough*Shogun*cough*AmongOtherFacters*cough), and China's more fertile and prosperous, so...

Hey atleast Japan saw the value in western knowledge, you actually decided you liked it BETTER slaving away with manual labor.

Damn phone typing.  This is a war heavy camaign set in a era of great change.  Just tell me what you want to do and I'll make it happen.  I'm going to play as devils advocate.  There are no real rules, although certain things won't work, like France annexing Austria and Prussia without a lot of war happening first.  Whoops I forgot Spain.

Edit post your actions in your color for turn 1.
Already infighting.  Just what I planned.

Why not all of us team up? I get Europe and part of Africa, China gets most of Asia and part of Africa, and Japan gets the Americas!

If we can get someone on the Americas to join us, they can have whichever one Japan doesn't get...that way, each of us gets about a continent(europe is relatively small)!

With China's industry, numbers, and willpower, Russia's pride, endurance, and rescources, and Japan's craftsmanship, skill and innovation, nothing can defeat us!

Expand into Siberia. Begin slow transition to socialism. One that fucking works.

Begin to bring the Daimyo's under greater central control by the shogun
Open select trade ports to western trade, restrict foreign travel beyond these ports.
Begin to arm ashigaru Levy's with matchlock rifles
Send an Official delegation to the Chinese court to discuss the future of Asia in this new era

(typing in silver for better legibility) If we are to succeed we will need an advantage to pursue, a master plan. We shall begin by industrializing our nation. Increase production capacity, ramp up the mining and farming, and prepare for war.

Though, you have to admit. This is pretty sketchy, creating one Nation game literally less than a half hour after one has already been made.
It's like games of given genres come in stops and goes...

On a secondary note wanna help me pick on China?  8)
No, help me pick on Japan!

I noticed that.  Funny timing huh?

Send merchants, traders, and diplomats to all nearby nations (including Russia and Japan, at least) to foster goodwill, and make a little money on the side. Be sure to purchase examples of anything the foreigners have which we do not.

Also improve farmland.

Also in the map, borders are incorrect.  Rely on historical borders as of 1800.

In that case...

Begin centralizing government. Support businesses, especially ones centered about mining or farming. Commission many scientists and engineers, research possible transportation uses for steam engines. Employ orphans and street urchins, the like, in factories. Not enough factories? Make more! Industrialize heavily...

USA wants what Spain/Mexico and France has and would consider joining a Russian/Japanese/American Alliance to get it.

I'm game, ill need some military advisors from Russia however, the daimyo's could be a future problem. As for conquests I want either Korea or Indochina (China can decide which they want more) as well as Oceania, the Pacific islands, and north America naturally.

You can have Korea and most of the Pacific islands, but I'd like Indonesia. We can split ownership of Australia.
