I end up quitting most MMOs once I hit the end game content :P

Not surprising... MMOs are based off of boring you endlessly until you hit the end game.

I usually don't survive the midgame slog.
STO isn't very bad in that regard, so far at least. I'm nearly level 30 (50 is max), and barely a third into the story content. Add in gaining a level almost every "episode" and there's still plenty that I haven't even touched yet.

While on topic of STO: Remember to check out Foundry often.

It might be user-made (so quality is often dubious) and rather limited (because, I guess, players don't have all the tools like programmers), but there are quite good scenarios worthy of checking.

I remember one particular user-made scenario that was basically another version of 'Cause and Effect' episode from TNG season 5.

Sorry for my absence, I kinda forgot about it.
I do play STO, and I did get a good deal of fun out of it. However, I have a wierd bug or something that crashes me and makes my character unplayable if I enter the Beta Ursae Sector Block. Shame, considering DS9 is one of my favorite areas in the game.

That's pretty weird. Have you tried checking the forums for help? Or re-installing?

Know the sad thing about the Foundry?  The missions with the highest rankings are often higher quality than the game's own quests and are significantly more creative.

I think that's true of most games that have user-made content :P

See: every Bethesda game ever, Cortex Command, Obsidian games, Source engine mods, MUGEN, etc etc etc...

Never picked up GA, but I wouldn't be surprised. And don't forget that a number of user-made ships, buildings, creatures etc were better than the ones Maxis came up with.

And how!

But yeah, user-created content has a much larger pool to draw from, which invokes a lot more competition. That, and it's done by folks who design for no other reason than creative expression and personal recognition.

Actually looking at the competition, you are being a bit harsh. The fourth is an excellent simple creature.

Funny you say that. The fourth one in the spoiler was the only one in the spoiler Maxis didn't make. It was a contest-winning piece of user-created content that someone did, in an attempt to refine the default Maxis style. Linko.

In polls where I'm allowed to select every option, I typically select every option.

Simple Spore Creatures are underrated and after a while a lot of the really good looking creatures start to become over complicated messes.

Mind you I can't say I am any better and some of my creatures are overcomplicated messes.

I used to be a somewhat respected Spore Creature critic (mostly because I was rather constructive and unnegative)

Some of the Maxis Chosen creatures shouldn't be in there...

As for Star Trek online... it isn't a BAAAAD game... but it isn't good for its price and subscription.

Sorry about that, I set it up like that and haven't bothered to change it.

I would, but installing it takes about 2 1/2 hours.
