The ToS novels (or novellas? Pretty short, really.) I've read have been pretty alright. Not mind-blowing or whatever, but alright. Read maybe seven or eight so far, they show up on the cheap in thrift shops pretty often, apparently. Plus I pulled four or five out of someone's old junk they were ditching.

Wouldn't pay standard market value for a book nowadays, but a quarter? Sure. They're worth a quarter. Least the ones I've hit so far. Maybe even a solid buck. Probably not a buck fiddy, but maybe.

Honestly when I first heard "Midichlorians" I thought it was pretty smart but that was because I thought it was a bacteria that only appeared in force sensitive people (possibly feeding off the force) and thus it being used as a test of force sensitivity made sense.
Yeah, this was actually my thoughts too, and as I understand it, it's what a lot of the fans thought at first too, until Lucas was very clear that they're the source of the Jedi's powers...

I don't think he got the memo that mystical powers are supposed to be... you know... mystical. Telepathic tape worms just doesn't have the same appeal.

That's one thing that I've refused to admit exists. Just... no.

How long did it take this Star Trek thread to turn into a Star Wars thread? I mean, I'm not surprised, but damn.

6 pages, I believe. However, it is still early enough to turn things around with a new topic of discussion.

How about...Favorite Star Trek ship. Any species. Go.

Enterprise-D, or any Galaxy class vessel.  The do anything and everything vessels of the Federation from the 2360s-2370s; although they did start to show their age during the Dominion War.

The federation ships all look virtually the same. I guess the saucer and nacelle design is sort of interesting, but they overuse it way too much.

I think out of all of them I rather liked the borg ships the most, I mean when the shape of your ship doesn't really matter that much, why not just make it a cube or a sphere?

In terms of aesthetics, I'm fond of the Klingon ships. Like the Bird of Prey. Not sure what I'd consider the "best" ship.

I sort of agree with that, but on the other hand, all of the different alien ships had that sort of over use of a single design thing going on.

I don't really know much about the ships of Star Trek, though the one that always struck me as interesting was the Intrepid. While I wasn't such a massive fan of Voyager, the Intrepid class strikes me as being rather versatile, and could be kitted out for a variety of specialized/specific roles for each ship.

The Defiant, it's eeety bitty but kicks ass.
This. Also, in part, because it has a different aesthetic than most of Starfleet.

And is the ONLY ship we ever seen with rapid fire weaponry.

Apparently we have an impromptu topic change, so I'm making it official and updating the poll.
Also, my favorite is the Sovereign Class. You know, Enterprise-E. That ship is just sexy as hell.

Edit: Poll reset and updated.

Actually the federation has A LOT more classes than those.  Some are pretty obscure (you have to google each one yourself for a picture, unfortunately.

And just about all of them are playable in Star Trek: Bridge Commander with the right mods. :)
