I think the effectiveness of stimulants caps out somewhere around 100% blood content. Though I could be mistaken.

This might actually kill you (no joke).  Don't do it.  Virtually every single part of your body suffers under sleep deprivation.  Adding stimulants on top of that can't be good.

After a week? I don't think so.

You'll probably convince yourself to give up around the two day mark.

Either that or find yourself falling asleep anyway. It's very hard to go without any sleep at all.

Not only is sleep deprivation bad for your body, it's almost impossible to successfully catch up on sleep after you've been deprived of it.  So sleeping extra next week isn't going to make up for the damage to your body that not sleeping this week caused.  Really not worthy it IMO.  Still the choice is yours.

Yeah. Just saying, caffeine's not going to work by itself, nor will simple distraction (i.e. gaming). Most of the folks that have managed more than a couple days without sleep had some pretty serious other-things-going-on, like years of intensive meditative and ascetic practice, heavy drugs, or major illness (or some combination of the three). Around day three or the late parts of day two your brain just starts more-or-less melting and it takes either some pretty serious dedication or some pretty serious system disruptions (or both) to keep going.

Won't say a two or three day stint won't be worth the experience (it can get pretty interesting, and 48 or so hours isn't too bad for you, so long as it's very intermittent), but I definitely wouldn't aim for a full week. Gonna' need some flex room to stabilize your sleeping pattern after you inevitably crash, anyway.

A bit of research into sleep deprivation shows that what you are planning on doing is a bad idea, complete with capital B, A, D, I, D, E, A, and a generous helping of exclamation marks with a light sprinkling of ones on top. Still, I can't exactly stop you so... Best of luck (you'll need it).

Also, the current record holder for longest time spent without sleep/stimulants of any kind is 264 hours, or about 11 days. if you're curious. Though from what I've heard you probably won't make it past three days.

I don't see why everyone's worried. Considering the lack of training and motivation, misko will probably collapse into sleep in a couple of days.

The main worry is he'll do so while doing something he can be hurt during I'm sure. Like driving.

There is also the possibility that he really will have the willpower to pull this stunt off and screw himself up in the process.

Yeah, this is a pretty bad idea. Anything more than two days will mess things up for you for a long while.

Yes. Stay in your house, keep away from tall and sharp areas, and talk to no-one but here. Make sure you understand the risks of going beyond these before doing so.

Also, watch what you eat.  I've personally found salty food to be most helpful when pulling all-nighters and stuff, the electrolytes keep you firing on most cylinders longer than sugars and caffeine.

But yeah, whatever you do don't try to drive.  And don't take the advice of any vague people who start appearing in your peripheral vision after about five days.  Just take that as a sign that you're nearing your goal.

The good thing is, the more tired you get the more your short-term memory starts to shut down in frustration, so the farther along you are the faster time seems to go.  In this context, that's a good thing.
