Going prone from standing should, in my opinion, involve an extra split-second and a grunt.
Because REALISM.

Because REALISM.
ARMA 3 needs more grunts and heavy breathing to give it that realistic feeling of slowly stalking your prey over long distances, watching their every move, planning your strike, and executing it efficiently. We must be able to full comprehend every sweat-soaked step of the mission, hear how tiring it is to carry a full rucksack across kilometers of rough terrain. We need force-feedback equipment to slam into us every time we go prone, fire our weapon, and jump over a chest-high wall.

in ACE mod you actually pass out from carrying too much equipment, does that count?

ACE does it tastefully, though, and without deliberately fucking up gameplay for the sake of "realism". IIRC you have to sprint for a fairly long time with a full load (rifle, AT, ammunition, nav gear, grenades) to get to the point where you start passing out. That's the sort of thing I'd classify as "additive realism", in that it contributes to making gameplay more interesting rather than more of a pain in the ass.

Yes please the delay means realism gameplay of previous titles was really annoying.

For those of you wondering about the scale of the main island, fly around Stratis for a few minutes in a chopper, then look at this map

EDIT: Somebody just superimposed a map of Chernarus over it

So, I downloaded that Cessna mod, hoping for a bit of a relaxing fly over Stratis, just like I used to in ArmA 2 with Chernarus. Unfortunately not only was the mod/game buggy in regards to animation, flight model and control (making it difficult to use), the controls for planes aren't defined as the same as helicopters any more, meaning I couldn't change the obtuse key bindings.

It's a real shame, that was the part I was most looking forward to. I guess I'll just have to wait for them to get their arse in gear with regards to real features rather than these tiny little tweaks they keep releasing.

I wouldn't count on it, that probably won't happen till beta.

So far after playing the lite a bit, I'm really liking it.

It's probably going to be a lot more infuriating against players, but if the mod developers carry across half of their stuff, should be amazing.

I still have 3 Arma 3 Alpha Lite invites lying around - if you are interested PM me your e-mail.
To my knowledge the lite version can't be played after the 18th of June (so better be fast ;) ).

Would anyone be interested to do some coop maps or just play together?
I've done some missions before on OFP, Arma1 and 2.
I think the same scripts still apply as in precessors :)

I'm mostly waiting for the beta at which point we'll have more content to play around with.
