I recently started up an adventurer world for some lolz. I got my dwarf all up and ready, then set out to soon die. I went looking for companions in my starter town, and found a bunch of goblins and humans living in harmony.. WHAT KIND OF WORLD FROM HELL DID I GENERATE?

This is fairly common actually.
It is usually caused by either a long peace time between humans and goblins with a lot of goblin merchants coming to the human towns to trade and eventually settling there or a long war time between humans and goblin with a lot of goblin war prisoners brought to the human town that eventually get integrated into human society.

I think stuff like this is pretty cool. Gives a unique flavour to the specific world.

It's worth keeping in mind that the big conflicts in DF are not between races, but between civilisations, i.e. cultures. A civ founded by dwarfs can conquer and take over an elven settlement, and the conquered elves will become members of the dwarven civ, with dwarf morals (and if there's another war between dwarfs and elves, they will fight on the dwarfs' side, because loyalty trumps racism). Dwarven children kidnapped and raised by goblins can become law-givers of the goblin civilisation when they grow up.
