Would you be using things like hacks to cause people to die via things like the assassins guild?

Nope, no hacks. There are plenty of ways to kill dwarves as it is: locking them into their room, drowning them, dropping them into magma, crushing them under a bridge... I encourage the Assassins' Guild to be creative.

Well, I want to avoid guilds with jobs that actually exist in the game. And preferably their goals should bring them into conflict with the other guilds.

But your suggestion gave me another idea: the Druids' Guild. An elfy guild dedicated to the ruthless protection of nature... What do you think?
Ohh, that sounds fun.
The Treasurers Guilds major trading export would be wooden spiked balls for their high value for low cost, which would get the hippie guilds knickers in a twist... ah, the political possibilities!

The person to sign up for the last spot gets to choose if they want to be Guildmaster of the Thieves' Guild or the Druids' Guild, and that's what we'll go with.

Let it be oficially Driuds' Guild, but actually... well, you know.

And so it was that in the year of 101, seven guildmasters set out for the glory of The Lauded Orbs, but mostly that of their own guilds. This is what they brought along...

Couldn't find a silver goblet, so it had to be a flask instead.

These are the gods of The Lauded Orbs:

Plenty of interesting wildlife.

The creaking wagon ground to a halt in the middle of nowhere. In the middle of an endless field of salt, more precisely. It was here that the Guilds of Despair would found the fortress of Laborburn. Only the best and brightest of dwarvenkind would be able to survive this untamed wasteland.

“Heresy!” Peregarrette the Highest Priestess of Amug shouted, as she rifled through the wagon. “I ordered giant osprey meat and sunshine! What is this? Eagle meat and wine?”

Loach the Fool was pleased to see that her clown loaches had been packed as specified.

“Did you know that the loach species was named after me?” she asked the raging priestess.

“What?”

“Or was it the other way around? I don’t remember. You could say I have the memory of a goldfish!”

Loach waited for the laugh. All she got was a stare full of divine anger.

“That was the most blasphemously bad joke I have ever – Hey, get off that!” Peregarette jumped at Vendix the treasurer, who had been fingering her shiny silver warhammer.

Standing a bit away from the others were Silver the Assassin and Crow the Mage.

“I’m sure we’ll do nicely here”, Silver said. “By the looks of it, the contracts should start rolling in soon.”

“Indeed”, Crow said. “Both I and my crow sense the winds of magic blow strong in this place.“

Silver glanced at the bird perched on Crow’s shoulder.

“Are you sure that’s a crow? It looks more like a - ”

“Of course it’s a crow! What else would it be? Do you have a degree in druidry or something?”

“Sure, whatever you say… Where did Dismas go, by the way?”

The two dwarves looked around. Dismas the Thief was at the edge of the forest, beating up and robbing squirrels, then getting disappointed when they didn’t have any money.

“He keeps himself busy, apparently.”

“Quack”, Crow’s crow said.

Vevois the Scientist emerged from the depths of the wagon, a horrifying scream drawing the attention of the other dwarves.

“I’m taking charge of this fortress! Strike the earth!”

---

Vevois is expedition leader, Vendix is broker and bookkeeper but needs an office. Post your Guild Orders!

Cut some trees, be generally as helpful as needed. If possible, claim the bottom left as my guilds.

Dig a hole! Move everything underground as soon as possible and station guard dogs at the entrance! We need to secure all valuables right now!

Wait, we can do that? Are we building seperate forts?
If so, I want mid-right, next to the curve of the river. Later, my guild will have a moat.

Guild Order: Dismas will pick-up his quiver, toss his pick in it, grab his axe and disappear behind the small hill. He will began by chopping down trees and crafting beds from the wood. He'll shortly after dig partly into east side of the hill and set-up a quiant tavern, half in the hill and half outside built of wood. He'll barter for food and drink from the others for use of his beds. There will be a backroom that he'll set-up a secret entrance below ground for his guild hall. The guild hall will connect to the sewer systems the fortress will eventually have. He and his members need to blend in with the fortress and not be known as "the thief", harder to steal that way. Once that is set-up he'll craft wood bolts and wood bow and go hunting a bit to add meat to the tavern. Lastly he'll collect plants and set-up a small farm and still. Crafting barrels and brewing more alcohol least the fortress and tavern goes dry.

I doubt it'll come to this but if thirst or hunger over comes Dismis he'll procure what's needed from the others.

Dunno if we are getting separate places or not but I'm claiming the bottom right as the Assassins Guilds. :)
