Nuclear Waters.
« on: February 28, 2013, 07:43:19 pm »

Welcome to the apocalypse, 10 years after the fact. The world has been utterly destroyed by a series of thermonuclear bombings, rendering nearly all landmass unsuitable for life.

Not to mention underwater, which is pretty much the entire Earth as of now. The only land you will see is in the shape of small islands that are too irradiated, too populated, or has residents too hostile to live on. Now-a-days, people live upon one of the only forms of transportation currently available. Boats. People travel across this new watery world in convoys with other boats in hope for survival, and protection from the ever-threatening pirates. Water, medical supplies, and other things that were previously taken for granted are now hard to come by, people having to trade with island-based trading outposts or other convoys to attain otherwise unobtainable materials in exchange for food or other commodities.

This is the world you live in. One filled with the most unlikely apocalyptic scenario you have ever heard of. You live upon the water, part of a small convoy of three boats.

But before we delve into more details, who are you? What is your name, gender, profession before the war, and age?

Oh, is this another one of those games that no one makes clear is a suggestion game and everyone assumes it's an rpg?

Wait, I thought this was Multiplayer!
Thinking about which to vote for, I would do myself, because Engineers are versatile. But I would imagine voting for one's self isn't allowed.

There are only three of you on a pair of small boats. You were originally part of a larger convoy, but a nasty pirate raid has forced the convoy apart, everyone either dead or scattered in a dozen different directions.

You take stock of what you currently have upon the two boats. You have,
5 days of food
10 days of water
2 fishing poles
1 small first-aid kit
1 hunting rifle
1 box of rifle ammunition (30)
15 days of fuel

Plus, the two boats and the clothes on your back.

You know there is a trading post to your north, about a day's travel away. That was originally your destination before the raid. There is also tale of a 'floating town' something close to about 2 days of travel to the east. Such things are rare, as most attempts are raided by pirates or they quickly starve out. The waters you are in house close to no fish, and you heard an old fisherman drawl on about legendary fishing waters about half a day to your south, maybe you might be able to catch some fish there, with your fishing poles?

Sitting in the water doing nothing will not help anyone, though.

"May I suggest we go to the South, it might be risky to go without food for too long; and we only have five days of the stuff."
(2guys and a single girl stranded in boats for days on end. Norape here one thing can go wrong this trip!)

None of us know how to fish (plus they're probably mutated and stuff. we should still go but let's get harpoons or something first). Let's go east. Hopefully the floating town IS abandoned. Then we'll have our pick of the loot.

See if there is any spare rope around. Surely we have a line or two? If we do, have the men help me tie the speed boat to the pontoon boat so that it floats behind us, then set sail for the floating town.

Should we leave, say, a day's worth of food and water in the speed boat in case we need to leave in a hurry? Its unlikely but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.

What kind of boats are these, and what kind of state of affairs are we dealing here with?
