« on: February 27, 2013, 12:25:42 pm »

I appear to have encountered a problem... my Über awesome vampire-necromancer public enemy No.1 character with legendary swordsman + fighter X20 has encountered a deity and we havee been fighting four about 15 minutes now (Real Time) and its gone a bit odd... he is doing no damage to me and i cant seem to do any more to him (although i fracured just about everything he wont die) but he his a vice like grip on my foot with his teeth and i cant leave... how do i murder this bastard resolve this predicament in a civilised manner?

He's not a deity - he's a demon that escaped from the Underworld and impersonated a deity in order to take over a civilization.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Indeed, if you had glanced at the already existing topics you wouldve seen that there already is such a topic active.

Deities are strange atm, I just met an ember-dragon deity in the middle of the night, I was sneaking - it woke up, I ran two stories down, climbed back up - he was sleeping. One stab to the head, dead. No fun :(

As the demon is animal-based and thus organic, it should be susceptible to bleeding out. Either go to work with your sword and deliver aimed shots to whatever limb you can actually cut - hoping to 'open an artery'. A few dozen open arteries on hands and feet can bleed a demon dry. Or try it with fired (not thrown) projectiles; those have a lot more force than thrown stuff, but if you're totally unskilled in bows/crossbows yet, the massive time consumption would be dangerous.

As to the latch to your foot, there's not much you can do; trying to move away will do a wrestling check, which you should always fail due to the absurd size of demons. Just hang in there and hope it loses purchase or tears the foot off before it opened so many arteries that _you_ bleed out. In towns, you can often 'retire' in the middle of a combat to get to safety, but i think that requires the town's civ to still be friendly to you.

Have you tried biting him or getting him in a headlock and choking him out? If he passes out you can drink him dry.

What did you stab it with? Dragon skulls are pretty large and thick :D. Why did you kill it? You could talk to it and get good quests.

I was playing a serpentfolk, and the dalesmen civ was at war with my civ so they attacked me on sight just when I entered their fort:( As far as I remember it was an iron javelin, superserpentfolk strength and master spearserpent :)

Died a few days later, got ambushed by bogeymen, but managed to run because I got defended by a bunch of warsnout fellows! They were right next to me when I was ambushed, so they fought each other, and warsnouts won, but I got beaten up before. I looked for a shelter in an undead civ... which was hostile to my civ as well. Got raped :(

Gotta start playing some friendly races, as far as I love centaurs and serpents everybody is hostile to them...

Wow, shitload of offtopic. Sorry.

BTW. It wasn't really a god, it fooled the dalesmen civ into believing he was Argent - god of wealth. But I think that's a regular, still new to the forums and the game but I've heard every actual civ-ruling deity is a demon...

well that went awfully... so i kept beating him and i ressurected a zombie in the room to help me out a bit... then Alisa (the deities true demon name) decided to BITE MY RIGHT HAND OFF!!! fuck! but then my zombie jabbed him in the mouth and teeth went flyinng so i left and was pecked nearly to death by an army of chickens but still escaped an d got to a frienldy hamlet where i retired and   made a bloodline legacy. i started a new adventurer in the same time alledged to be his brother and my old guy (Zitha) asked my new guy (Dominic) to kill him so i did and took his silver scimitar and one of Alisa's teeth and will now set out on a quest for vengeance!

I'd really suggest getting a better weapon for the actual demon bashing. Silver is, i think, the shittiest weapon-grade metal for slashing weapons like swords and axes. With a bronze sword, you might already be able to cut instead of bludgeoning the demon, giving the option to make them bleed out. Spears and pikes should have enough penetration depth to get through to the brain when you can hit the head.

I don't know which, if any, swords can go deep enough to hurt a demon's brain, but that could also be an option - just remember to stab, not slash and be prepared to take a while.

Keep in mind that clothing/armor penetration is bugged, it scales with volume/weight instead of linearly. As long as only dwarves, goblins, humans and so on have clothing, you don't realize it, as they're all about the same size. With very large creatures, however, such as demons, even pikes (the weapon with most penetration) can't cut into them, only bruise them - attacks that can't penetrate are blunted out.
(For more info, read here).

So next time, attack unclothed bodyparts if possible, or use hard hitting blunt weapons.
