Clothes and burrows
« on: February 27, 2013, 11:30:07 am »

After looking on the wiki, I havent been able to find the answer to this, so maybe someone here will know.
If you have a dwarf limited to a small burrow that contains his work area and living quarters, will he only grab new clothing if its in a stockpile in his burrow?  Will he strip off his old clothes and then cancel fetching the new clothes if they arent in the burrow, but then stand around naked?
Any help would be appreciated  :)

As far as that dwarf is concerned, items outside his burrow do not exist.

Well, they sortof exist, but only as an excuse for creating cancelation spam.

This is a masterwork ledger.  It contains 3719356 pages on the topic of the precise number and location of stones in Spindlybrooks.  In the text, the dwarves are hauling.

Burrows do not restrict a dwarves movement, burrows only restrict where a dwarf can take jobs. A dwarf can still take jobs (ie put on clothes) which require items which may or may not be in the burrow. If an item required is outside the dwarfs burrow he will cancel the job and give you a cancellation message along the lines of "Urist Dumbdwarf cancels put on pants, item inaccessible." A good way to help alleviate this is to add a burrow over common stockpiles: clothing, food etc...

I was afraid of that.  When they try and grab clothes from outside the burrow and cancel, does that still reserve the clothes so no one else will touch them, or will the dwarf try and pick another set that are stored inside the burrow? (when you have 2 stockpiles, 1 inside and 1 outside the burrow)
