Бог e c нас!
God is with us!

Our glorious Tsar, Boris III

Background:
Thanks to its decisions to side with the Kaiser in the Weltkrieg, the Great Bulgarian Empire was able to recover its territorial loses in the Balkan wars of the early 20th century. Unrest in the recovered provinces and agitation from surrounding nations has left Bulgaria hard pressed to maintain control of the Empire. Rumor has it that the bloodthirsty warmongers in Fascist Romania, barbaric Serbs, power hungry demagogues in Vienna and Turkish baby-killers are plotting Bulgaria's demise as we speak!... But, the proud people of Bulgaria will defend our Great Empire until the very last drop of Bulgarian blood has soaked into the black soil of our native land! For God! For the Tsar! For Bulgaria!

Meanwhile in the rest of the world: the Syndicalist menace threatens the traditions of Europe and the world with their radicalism, putting dangerous thoughts in minds of the peasants; Russia and Spain are the brink of revolution; Dissent is fomenting in America; The Qing Empire hopes to unite China; and Japan dreams of pan-asian conquest.

Game stuff:
Ok, so I had another let's play of this game a while back as France, didn't last long. But for good reason... well not really, I kind of fucked up everything when I downloaded the newest patch... So I decided to start up this badboy which will hopefully make it farther than the last one.

The game is Darkest Hour: Kaiserreich mod and you are Bulgaria. I'll start playing tomorrow.

I find, that with all the events and such in the first game year of Kaiserreich, it's best to just wait.  While waiting, modernize the army (especially infantry), and make sure you have supply dumps (or whatever allows strategic redeployment).  Build a mix of regular and militia infantry.

Yeah, there's a metric fuckton of events in the beginning of the game, so we might hold off on invasion fr just a bit.

And about strategic redeployment, I actually had pretty much no idea how to do it for the last game (I think I assumed there was some sort of tech i was missing) but I found out it's ctrl-click....  :-[

The game will commence in a couple of hours.

It also requires a certain supply tech, which I believe is Supply Dumps.  In 1936, some countries have that tech, and some don't.

I've heard of this mod before, but I don't think I've ever seen a basic summary of what it does. Might one of you be able to provide an idea of what it's main change goals are? no need to go into heavy detail :)

In a nutshell, the Kaiserreich mod takes place in an alternate WWII where Germany won WWI. Syndicalists (Communists/Anarchists/Socialists) took power in England and France, forcing the former governments into exile (In Canada and North Africa, respectively). Germany has a bunch of colonies and key strategic holdings across the world. Democracy is pretty much extinguished or most likely will be in most places (although anything is possible with this mod). The communist revolution failed in Russia. And much much more... Read more about it here *Warning! TVTropes!*. Really, there's just a ton of variables and events in this game that anything can happen.

The sniveling leftist pests have announced "Totalism" as the new way forward. They will not destroy the traditions of Bulgaria!

Also, we've begun construction of a convoy fleet (This is a good thing apparently, so I'm gonna do it) as well as some militia divisions as a preliminary bolster to our ranks.

A political scandal has hit the royal court of Bulgaria today! The former Tsar, Boris III's father Ferdinand, is demanding a higher pension. The liberal traitor, Prime minister Filov opposes such an action. We will choose to honor the traditions of Bulgaria and grant the former Tsar a higher pension.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Prime Minister Filov has chosen to resign in shame! Hopefully he's learned not to question the authority of Tsar Boris. We've appointed a much more loyal minister in his place, Konstantin Muraviev.
Spoiler: Muraviev (click to show/hide)

Not that I can do much about it now, but should I have added the cav attachments? Is it really worth it? Or should I make some straight militia divisions.. And should I waste time with convoys?

Will update tomorrow afternoon/evening most likely.

I wasn't going to say anything, but since you're asking:
1) Convoys are only useful if you have territories unconnected by land.  From what I can tell, that situation doesn't exist for you.  Plus, and probably more importantly, you're losing manpower that you need for the army.  I'd suggest stopping convoy development immediately.
2) I personally don't build attachments for militia: It takes away their main advantage, which is quick production.  I'll leave it up to you on whether to finish the current militia+calvalries in development, or to cancel, although you could have two regular militia by the time one of your current militia-calvary finishes.  On the bright side, those militia+calvary units are cheap to build.
3) If you don't cancel the militia-calvary, you should produce some plain militia.
4) Either way, you should consider building at least one division of either regular infantry, calvary, or mountain infantry.  As long as you don't attach superheavy tanks (they're basically lead weights at this point), most of the attachments would be fine, if your IC permits.  I note that Bulgaria starts with some truly awesome mountain infantry in relation to its other divisions, but you won't be able to finish their production until the middle of next year.

Fun fact: After looking over Bulgaria's naval technology, I know that you'll never build a battleship, lol.  Thankfully, naval concerns are a bit in the future, as all of your current conquest goals are accessable by land.

We were producing 4 militia+cavalry units, now down to just 2 along with some plain militia and a regular infantry unit+light tanks.

March 14th, 1936
Germany is now guaranteeing the protection of the authoritarian regime in Ireland. Anything to defend Europe from the syndicalists is welcome news to us.

March 18th, 1936
We have finished research on 1931 infantry and are now researching 1936 divisions.
The Germans have demanded oil shipments from Romania, who have complied with demands.

March 21st, 1936
We are now researching 1930 supply logistics

June 1st,1936
The Olympics have started in Stockholm today, we will of course send our best athletes.

June 11th, 1936
We've begun research on 1936 Logistics

July 6th, 1936
Spoiler: Revolution! (click to show/hide)
The soviets in Russia have gathered enough support to begin a 2nd Russian Revolution! They face the current liberal government in Russia... We would support the legitimate Russian government, but the Tsar remains ousted!
Also, we've finished production of 3 militia units. We have deployed two units to the Albanian border and the other unit to join troops in Pirot on the Serbian border.

August 26th, 1936
We've begun researching Mechanized agricultural production.

August 28th, 1936
The Siberian half of Russia have revolted, things are looking bleak for the legitimate government.

September 19th, 1936
The Russian government have taken Moscow... The Soviet's, meanwhile, have seized Arkhangelsk to the north. Transamur, a Japanese Puppet state on the Pacific coast of Russia, have attacked the Siberian seperatists.

November 10th, 1936
Socialist Nikita Kruschev has taken power in Ukraine, replacing Hetman Skoropadski...

November 28th, 1936
We've finished two more militia divisions. These will be deployed to the Greek border.

January 1st, 1937
We shift policy again towards intervention.

---
And so ends the first year. Other than us producing militia and the Russian civil war, nothing really interesting has happened yet. The Soviets appear to be falling apart slowly, while the Cossacks have stood their ground. Siberia is too busy fighting Japan and Transamur to do anything about the Russians.

Nice job.  I find miltia to be quite useful in boosting one's army early on.  I'd probably never build anything else, if it wasn't for stack limits, limited officers and manpower shortages.

You've also got me re-addicted to Darkest Hour.
