Long-Term Audiatory Memory.

Technically wouldn't it be "Eidetic Auditory Memory"?

(Provided of course it was a song that they've actually heard before, otherwise it would be an Auditory Hallucination if they couldn't control it or a variation of Perfect/Absolute Pitch if they can control it at will, [or, again, Synethesia if it is triggered by stimuli to another sense])

(This is of course also assuming that they can recreate the actual song itself as if they were actually hearing it [as seemed to be implied], rather than just a sort of ghostly idea of how the song sounds [in which case it would simply be mundane Imagination or regular Memory])

This is kinda what I meant. I wasn't saying that I am hearing things randomly or that I have voices in my head. I was just wondering what it is called when people have heard a song before and then they purposely "listen" to it in thier head. They remember what it sounds like hear it on purpose. When they are control of it. Not caused by something else noise or event in the real world.

Its a hallucination. You're probably fine and don't have a disease. Don't do drugs. See a doctor if it gets worse.  ::)
That was a joke I made lol  :P. Saying that I might have accidently eaten hallucinatory mushrooms. I have never eaten mushrooms or done drugs other than antibiotics, etc. Don't take any regularly.

Again, I am just wondering what it was called when people do this purposely. Not saying that I am hearing things or that I am be haunted or whatever. Just regular memory like Bohandas said.

It isn't technical. It is what is going on. It is not my fault if you attach unwarranted stigma to words.
Crazy today means you aren't fit to control your own body.
I didn't call him crazy.
I DID NOT INSINUATE THIS

Caps because not-insinuating is important business.

EDIT: Please don't say I'm hallucinating or crazy. "Maybe you should see a therapist",etc. You know when you hear a song or see something not there on purpose.

Professional self delusion?  Sounds like a useful skill!  Sure wouldn't need porn anymore...   :P

I can hallucinate at will, under appropriate circumstances. Auditory is the easiest, tactile is a bit harder, and visual is hardest of all.

It IS incredibly useful for a variety of activities. At the very least it can be entertaining.

But it's honestly kind of difficult to maintain. Minimal outside sensation or stimulus makes it easier. Usually, it's too much work.

And sometimes I can't control it, and that sort of sucks, but meh!

If it's only in your head, no, you aren't hallucinating. You're just moving something from long term memory into active memory and running a pattern analysis on it. If you can actually summon the sounds into being in such a way that they legitimately sound genuine, then yes, even if doing it on purpose I'm pretty sure it counts as hallucinating.

If you know you're hallucinating, you're not hallucinating.

Hallucinations are fairly common. Every night, I lay down in my bed, hallucinate for about 8 hours, then wake up. :P

If you know you're hallucinating, you're not hallucinating.

I don't know a more diplomatic way to put this, so... No. You are wrong.

Edit:
Okay, let me clarify. Hallucinations do not stop happening simply because you realize they are not real. Would they did - I used to get the uncontrolled and undesired kind as well. Hallucinations are not delusions. Recognizing the fact they are not real is occassionally trivial.

This does not make them stop.

Yeeaah. I've been seeing colors-that-aren't-there in my visual field 24/7 for as far back as I can remember. If there's a better word than hallucination for them, the doctors I've talked to about it didn't know the word (though wikipedia maybe suggests pseudohallucination). Knowing it's happening definitely isn't an off switch, heh.

... nothing is an off switch in my case, honestly. 'Cept death, I guess, or memory loss. Couldn't report it in either case.

E: Though worry not, OP. I couldn't give any additions related to what it's called that someone else hasn't, but I have the same thing happen fairly often. It's very nice, and I wish I had a bit more control over it. Better than a music player, it is, for however long it lasts.

The term hallucination, by definition, implies that it's indistinguishable from reality to the sufferer. So, If you're aware that it's a "hallucination", it's s something else. QED (and, no,YOU are wrong)

1. a sensory experience of something that does not exist outside the mind, caused by various physical and mental disorders, or by reaction to certain toxic substances, and usually manifested as visual or auditory images.

That does not imply at all that it's indistinguishable from reality, just that it only exists in the mind.

Quote
A hallucination is a perception experienced in the absence of an external stimulus.

Hallucinations come from “within,”although patients react to them as if they are external.

Pseudohallucinations are experiences that are similar to hallucinations but do not meet all the requirements of the definition of hallucinations

Music playing in my head happens all the time, ever since I were a kid. It's like a jukebox, except you have to actually do some work to influence it. It's a bit of annoyance when you try to go to sleep, too.

Might be related to the fact music surrounds me at just about all times.

Its very cool and fun. Just wanted to make sure you guys didn't think I was crazy or something was wrong with me. Like a mental disorder that randomly makes me hallucinate. I know that if I am very tired I have seen things in the corner of my eyes that are not there, or heard noises. After being very sleep deprived

I see and hear things that aren't all the time.
Things tend to happen in Pyro-Vision alot.
Just a little more mildly.
No kidding.
