Wow Vayaviya Vayu, you made almost everyone a widower, we only have one married pair
. But okay, I'll try to make this fort live, although it's really hard (you have no food/drinks whatsoever).
The end of the first year, logs of underseer Deona
Date: ?? of ??, ??
So I've managed to survive that terrible slaughter that happened. My god, what a mess, I still hear their screams in my ears! Our underseer gave his life fighting for our survival, so no matter what he did wrong, let's not tell anything bad about the dead.
Rest in peace.
Now I am picked to lead this community, if you can call a few frightened people and a child a community.
I've reordered current tasks, so now we can at least do something. We quickly finished the outside wall, patching the holes which were left, and installed a door to prevent animals from wandering in.
Two robots we have do not answer our pipboy commands, they must have been disabled by a sandstorm or fell in some crevice.
So we now have me as our leader and a miner apparently, two farmers, a mason, a scavenger/carpenter and a child.
Deona
Mr. Happyface
Disarcade
Tom
Demonbutter
Deona - miner, underseer/manager/broker/librarian
Disarcade - farmer, security chief
Tom - farmer
Mr. Happyface - scavenger/carpenter/woodcutter with a dog
Demonbutter - mason/crafter
One of the farmers called Disarcade is really sad about his wife's death, he is screaming and tearing, so I had to give him a position of "security chief" and promise that he gets a gun whenever we manage to find or make one.
I don't think it's a good idea to give a gun to a psycho, but the promise calmed him down a bit, we really need every man we can use here to survive.
Demonbutter is also very sad that his wife died, but he decided to stop being a cheesemaker and become something useful and continue to live. He's our resident mason and crafter now, fixing these walls and working on doors to make us safer and don't let anyone die again.
It looks like our "security chief" is serious about looking after us, he keeps patrolling the gate when he's not gathering plants and there's that look in his eyes. It's not madness, it's dedication. He gives himself fully to protect our group, I think we can trust him.
I've ordered to make him an office next to mine, I drilled the room with my own hands. Also everyone gets a free bedroom, but our only survived married pair decide to live in one room. Understandable.
People tell me they keep hearing screams and cries of the dead citizens. We have to do something... I've ordered to bury those remains we can gather, but there's barely anything left of them.
Now the complaints have stopped.
But I think I've seen a silouette on the horison, it looks like... No, it cannot be, it must be my eyes playing tricks on me.
The previously dug diner is still open. We don't have many tables, but at least we have a place to sit down and eat.

The winter entombs us, and I don't know how we are going to survive with such a small amount of food and drinks. I started rationing harshly.

What is it, a trailer? We were not abandoned, they found us!
... Apparently it's just a trade caravan and they don't want to escort us to anywhere safe, they already have trouble fighting off local wildlife and more people would make it more dangerous. Especially in our situation, where we all are dehydrated and starving.
But we traded various stuff Mr. Happyface managed to scavenge to get some combat armor, helmets and food. Now we can survive the winter.
I've ordered to expand farms, both aboveground and underground, and we now have a kitchen.
By the way, Mr. Happyface's puppy grew up, it is now a dog!
Fortress stats at winter of 1st year.
I think I am saving it. Now I just need migrants.
Disarcade is mostly a farmer for now, but I will make him a gunner soon, once we get people.
Then I will find a man with good stats and training skills to make a security chief, and call him "Big James B".
We still have a nameless child, anyone want to claim the only child survivor?
