My recomendation its not to take the game as a grind fest, take it as a sim(or whatever), fly and enjoy sooner or later you will get the next plane that doesnt mean its "better" or you will enjoy it more. I bet you will grind like a chinese, get that 190A5 and complain how shitty it is compared with the G2, all planes take time to get used to, all are diferent and all are good in some way or the other, you can do great with any plane so try to find the fun in that.

Uh, no ? The only BF109 i have is the one with 4 mg's. And I can't kill anything with it.

Considering my style is BnZ (with ALL nations, hah) i'm pretty sure the 190a5 is fitted for my style. Also, tried it in campaign mode, loved it.

you can do great with any plane so try to find the fun in that.

I can assure you i found very few fun while flying the reserve japanese planes. Same with the stukas.

Yeah the new patch added quite a bit of new BFs.
There's even a low rank BF with 2 low caliber MGs.

Finished today's russian mission. Wasn't too bad taking the SB2M I unlocked for the Pe-2 into realistic battles... just don't try aiming for tanks. 100kg bombs are almost impossible to use against a hard target... soft targets go down pretty easily though and they count just as much. Also if you find anything REALLY soft, like AAA or Artillery, use the nose mounted turret to try to take them out after you're out of bombs. Took me 4 good missions, but since each target in RB counts double for the mission, wasn't too bad. I might go after the bombers later tonight. That'll likely be done in arcade though.

Played with them a bit today, they're annoying to fly, not only are people going after you (seriously, two matches I got nothing because the moment I was spotted some asshole flew up and clipped my wings off (tho I did ruin the second guys day by chasing him down in my LaGG afterwards (several times))) but the plane itself is incredibly wierd to fly, I mean, how the heck do you reduce altitude with it?? So far the most effective way I've found is to just kill the engines and plummet to the ground, as the damn thing just refuses to lower its nose most of the time :C

Yeah, the SB series had it's flightmodel nerfed updated to reflect reality. Ok fine, before it was a bit silly where you could outmaneuver fighters. (Though apparently, that did historically happen).It's been a trend for most bombers, even Russian ones.

On a side note, I think the easiest way to go down is to flip the plane over, and pull up.

Not sure why, but I think it might have something to do with the flaps, I noticed it dives much better when they're raised :S

Also going up against biplanes in my LaGG makes me feel so damn dirty :C

I just flew out in my P40-E and got pilot-sniped by an AAA while chasing an enemy plane. I was quite close to the ground, but how did an AAA snipe my pilot out of a plane that hadn't taken a single hit yet?

AAA fires worse than an imperial stormtrooper.

When they hit it's either no damage or you get promptly shot down in one hit.

AAA hits planes purely on accident. It's ridiculously innacurate but when it hits it hurts since most of those AA guns are over 37 mm.

Got the Yak-7B yesterday, it's a damn monster that one :O
Like the LaGG except faster and more accurate, can't wait to get my hands on the ones packing bigger guns

Also IL-2 is incredibly fun and funny when used for plane hunting duty, short burst and there goes half his plane, cutting a bomber in half with one strafing run is also incredibly fun
