As for my personal theory

It is Bile. You developed a upchuck reflex to being scared and now whenever you get afraid your body prepares to puke.
Fairly sure it isn't this. It does feel more like
incorrect sensory input
actually. It feels fairly widespread along my tongue and only lasts a few seconds. It happened again today, but only to a minor extent when I was slightly afraid. It's real odd.

Tooth theory sounds like the most plausible one to me.

I think the best theory is the one where he should see a doctor.

Seriously.  If you hit your head and then anything at all is different afterwards, you should see a doctor as a matter of urgency.  Like, right now.

Ohh come on he barely has any symptoms... what is the worse that could happen?

Ok... admittingly the worst that could have happened is that he has a brain infarction and his brain is slowly filling up with blood that will compress his brain more and more until he dies when the pressure kills him.

Yet how often does that happen?

Unless you are a 3 month old infant your skull probably did its job and protected your brain from injury.  You are not made of glass.  It is very plausible that there is something wrong (like the cracked tooth theory), and you should speak to a doctor about it, but it is pretty unlikely that you suffered significant brain damage.

Brain Infarctions are infamos for being not only invisable but for happening from otherwise innocent head injuries.

Mind you I said the absolute worst case scenario.

If he needed the ER he would be dead.

First go to a doctor. I would like to say that being scared all of a sudden can make me taste something similar to metal. Like if I trip and almost faceplant or am surprised and think I will hit my head. (Which I always have caught myself, so far).

No. Some people are over dramatic and go to the ER for a head ache with no previous history of head injury or for a weak cough. But you don't mess with head injuries. Like someones else said in this thread they can be unnoticable without scans. You might call a local clinic and the earliest time they will give you is a month or several weeks later. You will eventually go to the hospital if you need scans anyway.

The incident of head bumping the OP described is no worse than what happens dozens of times during your typical high school football game.  IF the following symptoms exist and persist, medical assistance should be sought: repeated vomiting, worsening headache, dizziness, seizure activity, excessive drowsiness, double vision, slurred speech, unsteady walk, or weakness or numbness in arms or legs.

You likely bruised the skin on the top of your head, and possibly pinched a nerve in your neck. (your neck would have taken the brunt of the weight of your body traveling upwards)  The cracked tooth theory is another possibility, the bump may have jarred your jaw, and exacerbated an already existing problem, exposing a raw nerve.

This is what I was thinking. I'm not getting any symptoms and it was just an average bump on the head, the only odd thing is this taste. Sure, I could go to A&E after every time I did this, but chances of it damaging something at this level without showing any symptoms are incredibly slim.

Also;
First of all: Go see a doctor.

I had a similar phenomenon in my youth, but without the head-hitting bit. I got a bitter taste in my mouth in moments of axiety or contentration. Turned out this was caused in a hairline crack in a tooth, which was rotting away from the inside without me noticing it. Ew. The crack spread apart a bit whenever i clenched my teeth, which i did frequently when stressed or frightened.
The chance that your problems have the same causre are minimal, but if your family doctor can't help you, you might want to check when you last saw a dentist.
it isn't this either. Thanks for replying, but I had it yesterday with my mouth completely open and get it at swimming a lot, but it doesn't feel like it is a taste that can be washed away.
It's all very odd.
