Turn_6: GOOD MORNING COMMANDER.

alamoes
Your alarm wakes you from a troubled sleep. You sit up in bed and look around quickly, trying to recall where you are. You've woken up in your fair share of strange places, but this is… Now you remember. They dragged you through quarantine, sat you down in a hard metal chair and shook you down for half a night, combing your brain, going over every last detail of your life, your career as a leader. Then they sent you through to the docs, had them perform a few tests, made you jump through the usual hoops, even gave you a few shots of God knows what. Then you remember being tired for a long time. You were issued a uniform, escorted to your quarters, and now..here you are. You get to your feet.

Good morning Commander.

You look down at the portable radio resting at the foot of the bed.

Good morning..
My name is MAIOF, but you can call me May. I can answer any questions you have regarding the facility. Breakfast and the information regarding your men will be down shortly, in the meantime, feel free to move about your new quarters.

There is a locker and a desk, as well as doors leading to the bathroom, closet and the corridor.

The room spins as you try your best to reorient yourself. A sign above you attached to the wall reads: Block 7. You gaze down the corridor. There are a few doors on either side, each with coded locks, and it ends in a two-way branch leading off to either side. There are more signs indicating what lies in either direction but you can't make them out from here.

You right yourself, trying not to throw up, and head down the hall. You find the Human Resources Department easily and go inside. Its a single room with a desk and piles of forms and several pens strewn about the top of it. Lance is waiting for you and hands you a form.

I know, its not much. Just fill this out and we'll go find you a Comba.

(To hell with your bloody questions then! MUST FINISH TURN)

The two instructors take you through an elevator and lead you to the barracks.

Just stay here with the other for now. We'll come back to pick you up in a bit.

There are eight bunks lined against one wall, each with a single footlocker. Some of the bunks are already filled. Two tall, rough looking men have already claimed the pair of bunks nearest the back. On closer inspection you discover that they're actually twins. They regard you with curious eyes, and one of them even flashes a toothy grin in your direction. The only other person in the room is a bespectacled woman who doesn't seem to notice you, and instead continues staring at the ground with her back to you, as she had been doing when you first entered.

First things first, feel for your pistol.  It should be in your back pocket.  If not, quickly aquisition one.  Go look for one of those fire escape maps.  Those things are life savers in a foreign place.  Sometimes they don't have them, though they'd have to give me, their commander, something  of a map.

May, what time is it? How big is this place? How do I get to the mess hall? What am I supposed to do here as commander specifically?

Gunnar sighed and filled out the form, resigned.

"What is a Comba, precisely?"

((I'll do the sheet next turn.))

Request a copy of Dracula.  To read.  If this is what I think this is, we're going to need to know from the best.  The fiction may become real.  By the way, what does MAIOF stand for?  Mirae Asset India Opportunities Fund?  That's all I could think of.

They took your weapon before they even brought you here. You don't even have your wallet. You turn towards the radio.

May, can I have a gun?
No.
Okay.

You scour the room for an emergency map, but there doesn't seem to be one. You take a mental note of this, planning to complain in the future. You finally give up the search, instead opting to ask May a few questions.

It is currently 5:43 AM Ocean Standard Time. The facility reaches a depth of approximately 1500 meters below the sea level, and is comprised of over 10 separate divisions. The facility has no mess hall, and instead has ration dispensers in key locations throughout the facility. By the way, breakfast is served Commander.

The door pops open and a orderly steps in, handing you a tray. You thank him and have a seat on your bed, wolfing down the meal gratefully. You ask May through a mouthful of blueberry pancakes about your responsibilities here at the base.

You're in charge of one of our response teams, comprised of three pilots to facilitate delivery to location as well as air support, six investigators to take care of ground action and apprehend anomalous suspects and objects, and two support techs to cover any other areas.

No.

Its stands for Main Artificial Intelligence in charge of Operational Forces. I am your link between Global Ops and the field. I'm very happy to be working with you Commander. This is a very exciting opportunity for BENOC, and mankind.

They're combat vehicles. The first of their kind; entirely modular. You can turn an artillery platform into an aerial drop-ship in less than 24 hours. Interchangeable parts also makes repairs a cinch, so long as you have the proper facilities.

Lance looks at the ceiling and utters a low sigh.

And therein lies the problem. We need extremely specialised equipment as well as an entire wing dedicated to training engineers to work the bloody things.

He heads for the door.

Come on. Let's go find you a vehicle.

"Hi, there."

Greet the people.
The girl just starts crying, so you walk over to the twins. They greet you cheerfully.

Hi! I'm George! Hi! I'm Kyle!

You pop open a footlocker. You see a white jumpsuit folded inside along with a low-calibre pistol of a make you haven't seen before. You drop the cigarettes inside and kick it closed.
