Edit : Meep. Already mentioned.

I also recommend giving Incubation a go if you don't mind retro 3D graphics. Damn fine squad based game.

Agree. Incubation is one darn good game.

You could also take a look at Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate

It's different from everything else in the thread but maybe Worms? You take turns, during which you have about 30 seconds to move around and fire a shot. It's sort of set up like a side scroller with destructible terrain, you take turns plinking away at the other team who typically has the same number of guys and weapons as you.

You could always try the original Space Hulk video game. Should be able to get it running in DOSBox.

There is also Alien Assault series which started out as a fan-made Space Hulk before they were forced to change things.

Both are pretty much Aliens the game. You have a squad or two of highly trained marines fighting through cramped corridors, against a horde of agile, deadly, aliens, to complete different objectives.

If you want to turn the game back into Space Hulk then there are fan made mods for that on the forum.

Frozen Synapse is pretty cool, lots of high skill play involved.

AliensRL. It's like DoomRL, but with aliens. Far more of a survival style shooting roguelike, at least in the early stages. It's getting an update at some time or rather. Probably soonish.

Some classes in ToME4 play very shooty. Grendadier alchemists, archers, zappy wizards. Stuff like that.

Laser squad. Small squads, easy to play, but not many missions. Grab the guy with the high-explosive machine-gun, play it as a single character turn based shooter. Except you're god
