Hi all I wanted to share a DF industry flowchartchart I made using the program Dia: https://live.gnome.org/Dia

Google docs link to download the original .dia file (10kb): https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1Hcfq-LA5_XLXNaS0RtNmZmM2M/edit?usp=sharing
.svg file (~70kb): https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1Hcfq-LA5_XNmF6d1ZnV3dTcEE/edit?usp=sharing
.png: (~200kb): http://i.imgur.com/xXi7ULe.png

Feel free to edit, upload, share as you like.

That is a tangled web.

I can see this chart being useful for newbies, but it's really hard to navigate.
How about a set of smaller flowcharts, each for a specific industry/sub-industry, complete with explanations for each step, and recommended paths/setups?
Actually, that would be even better if it were interactive. Ask the user what materials they have, and show them what could be made with them.

...

OK, fine, I'll get to work on this tomorrow.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

This thing is confusing. Also tallow doesn't go to the ashery. It goes into soapmakers workshop.

It's not really a flowchart, since there is no starting point.
Also, there is no difference between materials and workshops, when it is (afair) possible to draw them differently in Dia.
Coloring basic cycles (3 or 4 steps long, for example: still -> drink -> barrel -> still) would be a nice touch.

Apart from that, it's really nice  :)

Primary resources harvested from nature herself. Plants, logs, stones, ores, gems, fish, meats, animal products and water/magma.

Is this freshwater or saltwater? Because alternatively you could breed a large amount of crocodiles and unleash them into the waters... indirect genocide.

Protip: Export as svg, because scalable vactor grafics are awesome.

Fixed some problems, reorganized things to be more compact, added a venom stockpile, will update the original post:

That is a tangled web.

Yep but I wanted to see the larger picture in this case. I think there are some smaller charts out there for specific industries

This thing is confusing. Also tallow doesn't go to the ashery. It goes into soapmakers workshop.

Oops, thanks for pointing that out. Sorry it's confusing. I spent a lot of time moving things around to reduce crossings and intersecting with nodes but it's impossible to avoid them completely.

Ah, never knew the distinction. 'Industry graph' then.

I like the idea of changing the nodes to different shapes, but it looks like I wlil have to re-connect all the vectors by hand ( at least I can't figure out how to change object shape without deleting and re-creating them )

Part of that is because the margins are set too high and it kept re-sizing the squares. I'll see what I can do to make it bigger, but at least you should be able to zoom in to read it easier.

Awesome, wasn't aware of these :)
