Should I Buy Either of These Computers?
« on: February 23, 2013, 12:18:50 am »

CybertronPC Syclone II TGM4242C Gaming PC - AMD Six-Core FX-6100 3.30GHz, 16GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, Blu-ray/DVDRW, 2x 1GB AMD Radeon HD 7750, Windows 8 64-bit, Keyboard & Mouse

Is this computer any good? I want to use it for gaming, and I would be paying $1400 for it.

CybertronPC Mechatron TGM4242Q Gaming PC - AMD Eight-Core FX-8120 3.10GHz, 16GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, Blu-ray, 2x 1GB AMD Radeon HD 7770, Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, Keyboard & Mouse

This is is $50 cheaper. Should I get this one?

CyberPowerPC Gamer Zeus GZ6400L Gaming PC - AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz, 16GB DDR3, 2TB HDD, Blu-ray Player/DVDRW, 2GB AMD Radeon HD 7850, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Here is another one, for $1150. Maybe this one?

iBUYPOWER SUPREME TG908SLC Gaming PC - 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz, 16GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670, Liquid Cooling, DVDRW, 800 Watt, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

And finally, one for $1500. Which of these four should I get? Or should I get any of them?

Thanks in Advance--

I'm just going to assume these are pre-built computers, and although I'm not an expert on computers I'm going to have to suggest you stay away from pre-built computers. They'll work fine, of course. But you're effectively spending 200-600 dollars more than you should, you can easily get a cheaper build if you buy the parts individually.

Also just a general tip, you'll never need 16GB of ram. Like seriously, 4GB will work fine. Your computer doesn't become faster with more RAM added, it may at first but eventually you'll stop seeing any noticeable differences once you add on more.

Oh and keep in mind, I'm pretty tired and groggy so I many be completely wrong, or talking out of my ass here.

Build one yourself for half the price.

Sorry for not saying it in the First Post, but I am NOT building my own. Due to the reasons that:
1. They are FAR to large to fit in my room.
2. I don't feel confident and I don't think it is a good idea.
3. I have no insurance on it.
4. I WILL fuck up.
5. Too complicated :3

Do not try to persuade me, please. I am going to pay to be lazy :3

IBUYPOWER brand went downhill recently in the OEM market, their builds arent very lost lasting. I would suggest OriginPC, or Cyberpower

You'll fuck up, yeah. But I doubt you'd break any parts. Now tell me, would you rather put a little bit of effort into something and save yourself around five hundred dollars to spend on something else? Or would you rather simply take the easy route, and pay five hundred extra dollars to save you a few days of your time? If you're getting into PC gaming, you may as well plunge in head-first.

If anybody would like to recommend a gaming computer, I would be very grateful. My price-range is around $1000 - $1400

If that's the case I say pay a friend $50 to do it for you.  A mildly tech savvy friend could have you up and running in a couple hours and be grateful for some easy money, and you'll still be getting your computer for less than half the price.

Bdthemag has a point. All these computers could be built for 20% less at minimum, even with buying the operating system.

You are considering machines above $1000 - I would completely ignore any AMD option at that price range. AMD is better for budget builds, but the latest crop of AMD processors appear to be getting destroyed in most benchmark comparisons ( Source : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html )

I have a machine with two video cards and I find real life performance gains to be nowhere near what the benchmarks say. It's a lot of heat and electricity for very little effect on gaming, so personally I wouldn't buy a computer with 2.

I am 14. Out of all of my friends I am the best with computers and technology, including IT. I could probably do it, but I am not going to. I think it is safer for me to just buy a pre-built one.

Lenovo IdeaCentre K430 3109-1MU Desktop PC - 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3770 3.40GHz, 12GB DDR3, 2TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 545 1.5GB, DVDRW, Keyboard/Mouse, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

This is for $1000
I found this while browsing waiting for replies. I have no idea why, but it seems like a good choice to me?
One more thing; I want a computer with a good graphics card. Is this really worth the money?

I don't get why people freak out so much on building a PC, with a guide it's practically glorified lego building. The only horror stories I've heard is from people who didn't bother to research the topic, or fucking up the pins on a CPU. Also, slightly unrelated, but why does a fourteen year old have over one thousand dollars to spend? Like seriously, is this normal nowadays?

I've been baby-sitting for almost 3 years, birthday money, holiday money, mowing my neighbor's lawn, etc. I have been saving up for quite the period of time. I've been stuck with this pile of crap. It can't play Dwarf Fortress efficiently, let alone other games of "higher quality."
Anyways, I really want to get something worth my buck. And for god's sake, please stop mentioning building a computer. If nobody has any suggestion on what to buy, then do not post. Sorry, but it's just a little frustrating trying to buy a new computer.
