Though, we DO tend to listen to the chaplain a bit more often, or at least I do. The gods can certainly be assholes though.
I remember we once got asked what sacrifice would let someone get a canesword. We decided on two caneswords.

I usually do something fun for a chaplain if I'm on. I remember I got someone to sacrifice all the animals on station and I gave him all the genemods minus hulk and told him to spread the word of armok by throwing beakers of blood on people.

In my headcanon, yeah. But the Chaplain was worshiping Armok that round so I rolled with it.

It really depends a lot on the server, and who's on.  And you saw the price of the canesword of course
In my experience it has a much better chance of working late into a round, particularly a slow round.  Also more likely if the request is innocuous, like cat-ears.

Tye Morris spontaneously combusted. He had a lit Zippo in his pocket when the malf AI filled the air with trace amounts of phoron. He quite literally blazed his trail to the medbay and died there. Unsure of what happened, a 'min decided to reward his 'space lizard magics' with revival as a fire-spreading demon and placement in the CentComm stinger after the fire had spread throughout the station. Long story short, everyone died in a fire.
