BYOND code is the worst thing on Earth, I'm pretty sure.
BYOND actually came about completely randomly, due to an attempt at wiping a hard drive with a magnet. Honestly the fact that it works at all is probably one of the most powerful examples against the necessity of a creator for something complex.

Nah your thinking of nutella.

I disagree mildly. Nutella has it's place in the world. For example, have you had two pieces of French toast with peanut butter, Nutella, and blackberry jelly inside, battered and deep-fried and served with ice cream and powdered sugar?

Yeah, Europe. That's what you're missing with this fried food thing. Early, obesity and heart related death and the most delectable experiences of your life. There is NOTHING deep-frying cannot improve, except for your cholesterol and stuff.

Coding in BYOND isn't too bad once you get the hang of it and know how to write non-shit code and not steal code and resist the temptation of the millions of things that would be convenient now but I PITA later.

And BYOND wasn't made for things the size of SS13. It started twenty years ago as a MUD maker. And SS13 oldcode is pretty awful too, although it's nothing compared to some BYOND games. I once saw a post on the BYOND forums asking about why some code wasn't working, and it was over a hundred lines crammed into /client/North(), mostly stuff that really shouldn't be there. The thing was, I'd seen it before, only slightly smaller smaller less shitty. I posted this, a it was handled casually in a "this happens all the time" way. Most BYOND games are just other BYOND games but stolen and with more shitty code. Those games are then stolen again and again and you get the picture.

Also, gl making a proper chemistry system that doesn't end up being ass.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

I have never heard of that, but it sounds better than fried butter.
