Good news though is that kneecapping someone and leaving them in maintenance isn't a minor setback anymore~

Actually that's fairly decent point - even if we want something from /vg/, we can port it, porting works both ways.

Things on BS12code, though: a) NUKE THE SPESSHUL PEOPLE LISTS. BS12 has two lists - alium whitelist and special items list. We don't need to have BS12ers to have their Masterwork *Cotton Grey Jumpsuit*s here, and I would really, really rather we didn't have Spess Furry Station.

Making custom items on our own, we miiiight someday want to have it (though I find it slightly risky, what with the possibility of cliqueishness), and aside of that it's just a matter of bothering Nien about sprites, so up to you to decide later on.<

That`s more or less exactly how I feel. I had plans to buff stuns, which are nerfed HARD in BS12, but I`ve since been informed that the BS12 devs are buffing them shortly, so I`ll hold off there. I`m also planning on buffing runspeed a bit, it`s quite slow on BS12.

Trust me, the first thing I did was delete the names custom items list and the alien whitelist. I`m planning on keeping Unathi for sure (xemo is best janitor), and probably skrell and androids, (diona`s add something for dead people and botany, so they can stay) but Tajaran are out. While I didn`t think that the ball gag was specifically designed for a fetish like Aran said, the Tajaran are specifically designed for a very specific fetish, and some of their flavour text reflects that. So, no. We can always add more species later if people like, it`s not hard. BS12 cleaned up the mutantrace code. It`s beautiful. So yeah, no whitelist, no Tajaran, but people can play as other species. In fact, Unathi are in our fluff atm, and I was working on a way to make them playable under the shitty tg mutantrace code.

As for custom items, as you say, it might create some cliqueishness. I feel that we should just hold off on doing that for now, but the option is always there if we decide to go that route.

I kind of like the Tajaran being somewhat the opposite of Unathi in their hot/cold tolerances. It can pigeonhole them in certain jobs but they can also break out of that and find ways of dealing with jobs they are not well suited to. It does make gear counts explode and that could certainly lead to a situation where a human comes along a space helmet they need not fitting at all. But having an Unathi miner would add a little "equal opportunity employer" schisms in the crew. You could certainly cut out hardsuits for nonhumans entirely and have an indoor Unathi engineer that has to wear a fire suit and drink tons of tea/coffee to stay warm on the job at a breach. All while the Tajaran flees with their tail on fire because the fire suits were all taken and someone lit plasma in their work area. It would be annoying to save folks on a low pop round but we have that already. It's called SS13.

I'm cool with Unathi, if used sparingly, but I really don't see a point in keeping Skrell in, especially since they are nigh-identical mechanically. Diona are, AFAIK, event only, so is Vox. Androids? You mean bots, augs, or something new I don't know about?

Thing is, I would really like to have alien:human ratio around 1:9 at best. So, in an average round every player would be more likely to be a traitor than an alien.

Yes, I am racist against a fictional species of aliens, so what? The way I see it, they only promote snowflakeyness.

Fair enough. Diona can be made by botany in the same way as pod people. Vox are a roundtype or admin event, and they are hostile. Androids are made with something called a positronic brain, and from what I gather are another way of bringing perma dead people back into the round. I could be wrong about Androids though.

And yeah, I'd like to have more humans than aliens without enforcing a whitelist.

How many special snowflake players do we really have? That's more a playstyle issue and honestly if people want to RP like that then let them.

Ah, posibrains. Can't say I know much about those.

Vox aren't _exactly_ hostile - they are supposed to be thieves, not murderers. Of course, they can hurt people, if they need to, but they aren't supposed to, unless they are completely out of options.

How many special snowflake players do we really have? That's more a playstyle issue and honestly if people want to RP like that then let them.

It's not about special snowflake players (although that might be a concern too), it's about special snowflake characters. Having a guy who can go out and fix the station without needing a suit. Having a guy who requires a constant supply of nitrogen. Having a bunch of instawin cultists, because they communicate in a language you do not understand freely, without any risk to that. Having a guy who requires a whole different medical procedure because alien anatomy, or conversely who doesn't need it, ever.

Imagine that every single round, from Rev to Traitor, one crewmember is selected at random to be a wizard with all the spells and a HUD that shows him all the antags. This is, of course a laaaaarge hyperbole, but still.

To be honest, pretty much everyone. I rarely see people play new characters, usually just the same one. I try to play a new character at least once every couple months or so.

Cultist red text. MalfAI with robotspeak. Changeling channel.

I use new random names every round and periodically reroll my body.

Objective #1: Steal a chocolate cake. Success!
Objective #2: Steal a braincake. Success!
Objective #3: Assassinate corgi meat, the meat. Success!
Objective #4: Prove Nanotrasen donk pockets are the worst in the galaxy. Success!
Objective #5: Steal a box of donk pockets for reverse engineering. Success!
Objective #6: Prove that the 'supernatural' is not as deadly as Nanotrasen brand food.  Success!
Objective #7: Escape on the shuttle or an escape pod alive. Fail.

Objective 4 was the most fun.

Cultist red text. MalfAI with robotspeak. Changeling channel.

Changeling channel conceals identities, and changelings don't have to work together to win.

Malf AI is malf AI, not malf human.

Cultist redtext:

a) conceals identity (you can, of course, message it in, but if you don't, nobody knows)
b) has a cost - either using some charges on your talisman, or requiring research and preparation
c) is risky - the preparation, which can be discovered, aside, if you use the rune, you say the message out loud, and even if you use the talisman, whose preparation removes the rune and requires a health sacrifice to make another one, anyone passing withing two tiles of you can hear you.

As someone who plays pAI alot, I approve of this language business.  Makes me even more useful, what with the translator allowing me to spy on them even when they're being sneaky.

androids and positronics

Positronics are MMIs that ghosts can enter to be borged or AI'd or MoMMI's or whatever.

Androids are a species you can select, like Unathi or Human.

languages are gonna buff antags

Unless EVERY Unathi, Dionae or whatever are antags, there should be someone who understands the language and will tell you "yo man,. these guys gonna summon 'Nar-See' in the chapel, go harm baton them.'
