So i just had a wonderful Revolution experience a few nights ago, my first one, yay. Its......... a bit of a story. And I may have exaggerated a few parts but its mostly true.
I was just a lonely shift miner, minding my own business when after mining some large loads of plasma and assorted goodies, when the QM was waiting near the ore processor with a cargo tech, cheerfully waving at me. He began by saying the captain was going to claim the first Ripley and we all were going to receive pay cuts as we were "non-essential" compared to science bay and security. So I began to flip my shit when he whispered "Let's do something about it." And the option box popped up. "Hell yes, let's blow this shit up!"
So began a guerrilla war so subversive and fierce that El Che himself would have been proud of us. It began by getting all miners and cargo techs recruited and given dual mining/cargo access, as we needed extra hands for the "mining". After that we began liaising with our comrades in medical to acquire harmful substances in spray bottles. A quick accident to the chaplain who wouldn't play ball and some intimidation of the hydroponic hippies earned us control of both Cargonia and the bar, kitchen, and hydro, plus the chapel. Unfortunately, this also brought security down on us so we sacrificed two brave Grey Soldiers; who were promptly thrown in perma-brig and then robusted with harm batons to death after a failed escape attempt. After this show of force and a quick regrouping we went underground again. We began the war again, and in full force, after we took care of the HoP. A quick spray bottle of steam plus whatever those crazy bastards in chem decided to mix in it, to the face took him down quietly and we pinned it on engineering, as they wouldn't join in on the Revolution; the proletariat dogs! This gave our glorious leader the ability to order weapons and armor, after cutting power to the A.I. so we would not be caught. A few shuttles of regular items with some very rough "inspections" by the HoS and his hounds and we had our gear. Our comrades in medbay had not been quiet during this time and had began a hit and run campaign against security using chemical bombs and had struck a blow when they downed the insidious Warden. But they didn't get it all their way, as they had lost some men due to both the tyrannical Security forces and due to forgetting to wear masks when some of the gas bombs went off.
After the recruitment of the grey tide we were ready. The plan was a three pronged attack, our main kill-team of geared veterans would hit the bridge and aim for the Tyrant himself and his sycophantic dog, the HoS. The second team, lead by our veterans and comprised of mostly grayshirts would tie up security at their offices. Our third team, mainly left over med bay crew and some engineers who had defected would hit the A.I. chamber. Then we gathered up at Cargonia and sprung into battle.
As one of the veterans I was assigned to the main kill team, and was decked out in full armor and had a revolver and laser gun. The other 3 who filled our team were similarly decked. 4 Armed and deadly veteran revolutionaries who had been there since the great raid which had resulted in the chaplain being rail-shot into space. Our second team was led by our leader, the QM and he was armed like us, and his horde of greyshirts were armed with tool boxes and crowbars with the occasional kitchen knife. The third team was led by the only surviving medbay vet with some geneticists and 2 engis. They were given some of the leftover engineering hardsuits and were prepared to disconnect the A.I., which still was underpowered and was deemed a non-threat.
Gods how we were wrong. It turned out that Security had gotten wise after catching those two greyshirts earlier and had relocated most of the bridge to the A.I. Core. Power was still weak there but they had repaired enough to get the inner turrets working and power the A.I. again.
So we began the plan without a hitch, and the greyshirt team had engaged and we winning against the thinned sec forces. My killteam had reached and breeched the bridge next.....only to find nothing. Zip, nada, nothing. Only some leftover pizza boxes and a chair. We reported it and began combing arrivals, the most likely bolthole. Again nothing. We knew they didn't call the shuttle nor relocate to be closer to it, the hippies were keeping that hallway under surveillance. We ran back to the bridge and soon the third team had breeched the outer doors to the A.I. Upload chamber. They hadn't come under attack so we went to assist our comrades at security. The third team began breeching the core doors when the captain and his cronies jumped them and they only had time to get the message to us and we were forced to leave the pitched battle to assist. When we got there the captain called the shuttle and his guard dog the HoS and some of his hooligans were waiting and a pitched battle ensued. They knew we had laser weapons and the HoS had armored himself with the anti-energy armor, so my comrades could do nothing against him.
So I gave a great shout and charged while I unloaded my revolver at this head. A sec dog had hit me in the torso and my right arm but i kept firing. I had nicked him in the arm and engaged in melee. One of my comrades died during this fight and we had taken two of the guards down. I began pistol whipping at this head while digging though my pack for something more robust. He tried whipping me in the torso to make me back up but my armor kept me up. I dug though my items when I found something I had forgotten about, the steam bottles. The HoS didn't have on a mask, having opted for a more protective helmet and I straightened up with the bottle in my hand and sprayed it in his face. It practically melted off. The HoS slumped to the ground and went critical and his dogs had been taken care of by my companions (really only one as the others were too wounded or dead). I gave a great shout! and was instantly floored by the captain's laser gun to the chest. He began shooting wild, and took out the remnants of our team. All seemed lost when suddenly the QM and his ganksquad arrived and mobbed the captain, as his pistol was low on ammo and had few shots against the grey tide. Sadly it was too as late our team was dead and dying; I was critically injured and the med bay team was gone. So I got up, heavily bleeding and walked to the chapel, grabbing a pack of cigs and a lighter. I walked into the mag rail and coughed up some blood and lit a cigarette. The QM (who was only lightly injured during the raid) ran to the chapel and yelled at me to stop, as I was the only remaining Revolutionary veteran. I shook my head and said "The revolution was a success. And I know nothing else than revolution."
And I hit the switch.
