The MOTD is very easy to modify. It's seriously contained to one config file. I'll try my hand at writing a new one. What should be included?

I can modify it, or you can send me your changes and I can set that up.

It's either having some regulars go away, or having the server be empty 99% of the time. It would've died if we hadn't gone public.

No - the majority of people playing during even the massive rounds is regulars. It's just the snowball effect - the less people are logged on, the harder it is for ANYONE to stay - because sitting on an empty ship, all alone, is not a game, it's an exercise in meditation.
We've gained quite a few pretty all right players from going public, having to deal with some shitty players is standard for all servers. I can say with 100% certainty that the server would of died (and has come close a few times) if we hadn't of gone completely public. The interest from B12 dried up a few weeks after we first started the server and if we would of stayed private, at most we'd get fifteen MAYBE twenty people on, but the rest of the week would have us capping at around twelve players.

Yeah, going public was still the right choice, but it's bloody aggravating to waste a couple hours because some shithead has a powerboner (or because the MOTD wasn't clear enough on what our rules are). :/

Trust me, going public was a great choice. The server was literally almost near extinction and regulars were getting bored of low pop rounds.  Honestly it hasn't been THAT bad considering the first time we went public weekend it was shut down pretty quickly. We've been going weeks with public, if it was a bad idea then it would have been private by now.

Does anyone have any idea why I have been lagging consistently and at the same rate for the last three days? Is this a new update thing, or do I need to update to the latest Byond or something? Or might it be a problem with my computer/internet? My internet is fine in all other cases except when I'm on Byond for whatever reason.
