You can also get welding goggles, or in a pinch just use sunglasses.  ALSO an exosuit helmet serves as a welding mask.

You could try finding some sunglasses, I think there are a couple pairs in some maintenance tunnels.

Keep in mind though, sunglasses don't stop all the welding damage.  Extended use will still make you blind.

Short blob round. The blob was causing chaos and the crew panicked. But a well aimed bomb by Axl took out the blob core.

Blarg, that blob round last night/this morning was too close. I managed to walk along the outside of the station from Sec to the singularity and sneak into close proximity to the core, shoot down the blob walls all the way to the shield with the Captain's lasergun (deconstructing the floors as beneath them using the RCD), but the shield wall recharges just slightly too fast for one person to take a step forward, switch from gun to RCD, and click the floor, so I only managed to get a couple shots at the core. If someone had just saved one bomb instead of using them all to delay the spread I could have pulled a noble sacrifice and given the core a hug. ;.;
