For all we know it could have a planet colonised by clowns where they can live in peace without being ridiculed/murdered/spaced/blamed.

Oh yeah.
One assistant... becomes a Pirate Captain.

My favorite moment during that round was when I was sitting in the Captain's chair, when the real Captain and Axl comes in. The Captain says that if anyone moves I die. I stare at her for about 5 seconds before grabbing the handtele and teleporting to arrivals which I set earlier.

Crispin Reynolds says, "A bit slow there lass." (Well I think I said something like this.)

Was a fun round, stabbed someone's eyes out, robbed the armory, evaded arrest, spaced myself. Good balance of shitheadery and roleplay. Will probably hang around a bit more.

Welp, the warranty on Space Station Thirteen ran out and Central told us to strip the place down and build more stations. The crew originally broke into a few different teams: There was the lone librarian, myself (CE) and the borg, and Alina (RD) and Nicole (Scientist). Hector didn't participate in construction himself. After Alina shocked herself to death on the autolathe and I was promoted to captain, we decided to join groups and build one station on the asteroid. We made very good progress, but even this incomplete station took hours of work and we all left eventually.

Be traitor assigned to kill HoP (who quickly became acting Captain). Wait for three hours to get an opportunity, stockpiling a pair of pens, emag, set of traitor grenades, and e-sword in my internals box. At the very end, after multiple artillery strikes, finally get Crispin alone in the bar as another strike is announced, where we had been hanging out. Just as he's walking out the door, Parapen -> drag to maint -> cuff -> choke -> facesmash with e-sword in thirty seconds, calmly don mining hardsuit over bloody clothes, buckle in aboard shuttle as sec and a doctor drag his corpse onto the shuttle.

Patience is a virtue.  :P

You know, barely anyone plays captain, security, or engineer. I'm often the only engineering staff as the CE. Werty, Nienhaus, and Hans are the only other people I remember playing captain. Security is played by a good amount of people but they rarely do it. Why does everyone hate those jobs?

Captain gets shouted at anytime they do anything someone doesn't agree with. Security gets shouted at every time they arrest someone, not to mention the 'often gets murdered for their stun weapons' thing. Engineering is a boring but vital job, and it gets old if you don't entertain yourself somehow.

The moral of the story? Stop shouting at the Captain and Security. Like I said that one time, Space Law is just guidelines for me. I am polite to polite people that don't run. And I will fucking ruin your day if you run from me, are verbally abusive, and tell me what I'm doing is against Space Law.

I steer away from more important jobs because I don't have all that much time to play anymore. Having to go in the middle of the round as captain is bad, as it is with engineering.

I play captain because mostly the station needs someone with accses to ID computers. But, I dont really understand why people care so much when people bitch at them for being security. Let me give you a example.

Look at this man. He is doing his job correctly, while the man in the background, is not. I don't give a flying fuck how much you rage at me, I know I am doing my job right, and fuck your opinion of how I should play. Basically, if you whine about being arrested, step back, and look at yourself. Why would I be arrested? And seriously, metagaming or not, if you flash a emag/esword/revolver/anything that may be contraband infront of me, I will stun first and ask questions later. If you get stunned, it does not mean the game is over. Unless you are a antag, or just nuts, co-operate with the security officer. Why would you not? And going back to stunning, breaking news, it wears off and does not do damage to you. Nobody has been directly stunned to death. Also, a rubber bullet or beambag shell will not kill you. Stop bitching about being hit by them. Large numbers will, but 1 or 2 will not. Going back to contraband, I assume, that like all secuirity officers in REAL LIFE, SS13 officers are trained to recognize weapons and contraband. And a Esword would look different than a toy one, I assure you.

tl;dr Officers know what they are doing, and being a bitch about security will not help anybody.

Spike would run around in the parade uniform and.... hmm. This might have to happen. Perhaps he would just make Ian the Captain and take up gardening.

Come now. Whenever I actually play, I play Captain, HoP or CE, in that order of preference.

Okay, so we're allowed to bitch when sec attacks us for no goddamn reason, or "because you look shady"? I don't think I've seen much/any OOC (note that there's a difference here; people complaining IC after committing actual crimes are probably trying to turn the sympathies of other people against security) bitching about shitcurity from people who've been arrested on reasonable grounds, it's all been from the "You have something that you don't spawn with that could theoretically be used to do harm? STUNCUFF and PERMABRIG! You stood in one spot for too long without saying anything to me? STUNCUFF! You cracked a joke at my expense? STUNCUFF! I'm bored and you happen to be handy? STUNCUFF AND STRIP! You tried to stop me from killing you? EXECUTION!"

The amusing part is how both the abuses of authority and excuses of the same parallel those of real-world police almost perfectly, with the only difference being that in the real world death/life imprisonment lasts for a bit more than an hour or two. This is one of the few areas where I really feel that the low population does us a disservice, in that there is almost never a warden, lawyer, etc., so justice tends to turn into one or two robust people playing sec and permabrigging/straightjacket+muzzling/straight up killing anyone that they don't like.

If a Security Officer is abusing his power, and acting like a dick then you tell an admin. However, that doesn't give you a reason to get pissed off whenever you're arrested or put under suspicion in normal cases. Security are in the position where pretty much every antag wouldn't mind them dying, as opposed to being a normal civilian in which case they won't care about you unless it's their objective or if you get in the way. So it's sort of reasonable to be OOCly suspicious and paranoid.
