Engineers have yet another thing to carry on them?! I'm already full of stuff on the job.

You don't HAVE to carry it. It just helps. It can fit in a pocket slot... But I'm assuming your pockets already have a t-ray scanner and a cable coil in them.

EDIT: Protip: Store crap in your internals box. I typically use it as an impromptu medkit.

Cable coil? Nah. Try a flashlight. And if I'm not actively scanning wires, then some other job-related tool (which, yes, might be a cable coil, but not all that often).

If I have time I usually grab a second box, label it wires or engineering supplies or some such, and carry it around. On that note, it would be nice if boxes were more readily available, especially on low-pop rounds (mid-pop rounds enough people will throw their boxes out that it's not as big of an issue). I know of a few places to get extras on the station, but the supply is very limited.

That's pretty cool, Glloyd! Will breaking tape you don't have access to be considered trespassing? I'm not too sure about the usefulness on engineering tape, unless it somehow magically holds in the atmosphere.

Usually wires go in internals box. Solars require a lot.

It magically holds other people out of space until you can run to engineering/cargo/EVA/etc. and grab some metal.

It also lets people know that engineering is aware of the issue and they don't have to call it on radio.  Someone is already working on it.

It also lets traitors cut them, allowing the crew to run straight into space and harms way.

They would do that anyway.

Traitors can already do that.  It's called "sit and wait".  I haven't done the exact math, but there's a comparison to the number of current space station occupants compared to the average amount of self-spacing done in a given time frame.

Given 4-5 hours, any given station will systematically commit suicide via spacing themselves, on accident or on purpose.  Times vary based on total population and the availability of welding torches.

Any Engineer worth his salt is already carrying a bunch of metal. I suppose it could stop people from opening up the firelocks when I drop them to hold in atmos.

Sometimes they run out while on the job because this is the 5th emergency in a row.

Alas, my escape attempt from the permabrig of SyndieStation 13 was foiled by the dreaded Karmakarp, exacting his retribution for my sin of murder.

Just to clarify, the MD was SSD, so Axl got the transplant via Ben Dover, (fellow) traitor, priest of the Random Number God without any medical training. Playing it safe, huh?
