I was the detective, and started working with Lola, one of the few folks I saw as level-minded and actually wanting to survive, to ensure that if anything happened to me, all the evidence I'd gathered (Recordings of the captain abusing folks, pictures of the bodies, recordings of the cloak and dagger, etc) wasn't lost. I worked for all three little factions that were forming: The HoS and HoP plotting with me behind the captains back (Which I recorded, and that's also why I was so noncommittal - I didn't want to put myself plotting openly on tape); I worked with the captain and security, turning in folks who were handing out illegal drugs; and I was also working with Lola, who I thought was a third party who wanted the same thing I did (Survival and keeping everything normal).
I had no clue Lola was the Rev Leader, even at the end when we escaped the station together. It's still blowing me away.
Generally, I tried to stay neutral and play damage control. I wanted to hear all sides of the story, and gave all sides the benefit of the doubt before taking action. Things started getting a little out of hand once the captain started gathering everyone up for a loyalty implant party - Which was interrupted by Lola firing at the captain. Suddenly everyone's running every which way, Lola runs off, with a Sec Officer right behind her. I follow, tell the Officer that I'd get Lola and he should go help the captain... And he did. Both unfortunately and fortunately, Lola was good at evading security, so I lost her.
So began the long process of me avoiding the captain and trying to find Lola so we could get out of there. I figured she was innocent and scared for her life, and I didn't blame her - What was important is that I thought I could trust her. I wasn't about to help her with all of the witnesses and Security around, though, since it was a pretty huge risk. I did what I could to help her, though.
I finally found her and the co-conspirators by cycling through half of the cameras in the station. I saw her with the Chief Medical Officer, and wasn't sure if she was in trouble. I'd had no contact with the CMO, and he had seemed to be willing to turn us all into loyal robots before everything went to pieces. I decided to risk it, and went in without a weapon drawn to try and figure out what the deal was. After a tense moment of discussion, they decided to trust me.
Suddenly, a security officer walked by as we were making our way out. I figured that I still had half a chance to make myself a useful double agent, so I put my hands up into the air and hoped someone played along with my hostage gambit.
Lola did, and threatened me with her shotgun if the SO tried anything. A scuffle ensued, with the security officer managing to stun everyone, except me, since I was the innocent hostage. I tried to get into a position where I wouldn't shoot anyone, and opened fire with my revolver, taking the guy out. (It turns out, later that he would have kept on walking if not for the hostage gambit. Whoops.) I tried futilely to save his life, and we went on to look for the captain so we could call the emergency shuttle.
Long story short, we took the captain out, I tried to keep him alive while everyone else said I shouldn't even bother. I ended up letting him die, and we called the shuttle and escaped, Central Command telling us we were in for a tough ride.
Luckily, I still had my briefcase full of evidence to help explain everything.
Man, that was a good game.
