I'm still mainly proud of the thermal engine and it's piping. Working on atmos-related projects with Andrea is always a pleasure.

Well about Welder rounds as I have some input on the subject.

After looking up who the welder was after somehow forgetting I think the possibility of either two things are a way to implement this

Either A) A new thing on the asteroid. A small 2x2 room with a closet inside. The closet houses a welder's mask and a small wooden totem. Whoever touches the mask and puts it on will immediatly have an apron cover their exosuit along with a machete either land on the ground or be in their hand. A blurb of text along the lines of:

"As you fit the mask on your face, you feel an otherworldly force take control of your body. The ghost of John DeFoe lives once more. Go about and kill every human in sight."

And maybe get some 'special' objective like 'Make this a fun show for the gods'(A.K.A. make the crew suffer) or 'Kill X the X in a spectacular way' Some type of objective that the Admins after the round decide if they won or not as-like we said before-this does sound like something we can do.

OR we can do:

B) Have a dead player spawn as this or just have an admin spawn it like a death squad.

How I imagine the welder to be killed it similar to 7 days a skeptic. Spacing. How you would lure him into a way to space him is your decision. That is my two cents on this topic

Actually, when you touch the totem, you get possessed.

If you make it a room on the asteroid, you'd get significant meta of people looking for it and stuff. Also, it's fun for some time, but not every round.

I knew something wasn't quite right with my description

Yeah, but like I said, its just an idea, and I know full and well some ideas are better not to have in if you can't have it in a fun way. For now its up to the admins to decide.

I guess somebody could code in a special type of antag that only admins can spawn that is the welder, so you can have the blurb and the doll and all the gear with a button click.

That was a pretty fun round. I was hunting for the traitor as the acting captain (CE). I then saw Joe Muggins, a lawyer, with a suspicious beacon in maintenance outside the bar storage. Cue twenty minutes of secretly trying to find proper evidence, and stealing an energy gun from the suspiciously open armory. I then got some damning evidence from the mime/ninja.

PDA: (Beep) *Important evidence*
Joe: Was that your PDA?
Me: *Draws energy gun*
Me: Yes *pew* *handcuff*

Cue 15 minutes of arguing, Joe consistently claiming that he was innocent and trying to talk out of having the barmans shotgun (Which he stole while trying to kill the barman), a box of flashbangs (stolen from the armory), and a red space suit (Which he wore while doing it). I love my job. Especially when I can take a traitor completely by surprise with an energy gun.

Shouldn't be hard once we get all the necessary items coded in. Probably copypaste NukeOp-maker button with changed references to point to Welder items.

How I imagine the welder to be killed it similar to 7 days a skeptic. Spacing. How you would lure him into a way to space him is your decision. That is my two cents on this topic

In 7DAS, you could stun the Welder, but in SS13, stunning is generally way too powerful to allow on a melee antag. Although, you could make it so that only a stun baton can stun him for like maybe .5 to 1 second, but I'd say that's still a bit powerful.

I think the welder absolutely must be an admin-spawned and guided antag role, though. If it were specifically an idol found on station, it would be too easy to just space the idol or destroy it. Not to mention the prevalence of gloves, which allowed characters in 7DAS to handle the idol without being possessed.

A suggestion I heard a while back from someone was that a random important object (say, like beakers or insulated gloves) could be made into a Welder idol. When they touch the idol, they get possessed. The goal of the crew is to destroy the idol while the Welder still roams the station because otherwise when they touch it, they become possessed.

Although, I still think it should just be an admin event.

If it's not an admin event, the welder can't be invisible (barring a cloaking device, which defeats the purpose) and the welder can't suddenly show up in Cargo, when they just said he was in Medbay. Plus there's a lot of atmospheric stuff admins can add on, such as random messages like "You feel the hair stand up on the back of your neck" or "You feel a presence in the room with you" or "you hear screams echo down the halls." Fun stuff like that.

I'd like to see a modified Changeling round where there's only one Changeling, but they're more powerful. They have more abilities to choose from as well as more points at the start- things like stun resist, acid spit, vent crawling- as well as being able to assume the form of anything they absorb, completely, from the start. The process does take time and leave gibs, however.

I wonder how hard it would be to code that.
