I dont think they advertise the server on the BYOND list so only those with IP book marked can join up

So, I've been watching PlumpHelmetPunk's SS13 videos (which are amazing by the way, watch them if you haven't already!) and it's getting me in the mood to try playing SS13 again, and of course I remember Urist McStation being the best server around.

How much action does the server get these days? When is it best?
Hopefully there's still plenty of activity.

We got at least 15 players and at least two event rounds over the last 12 hours, but it's kind of unpredictable when pop picks up.

Eh, don't worry about it too much, it's the most fun for you when you're utterly clueless beyond the controls and don't try messing with something that might destroy everything for everyone, like the engines, just yet. Once you get done with all the discovery you start to go to desperate measures to have fun like being a medbay lesbian or badminning :^)

Plus, we're running a custom fork (of BS12) that's outdated by a couple of months, so not everything matches up.

There's a difference between "hilariously clueless" and simply "not knowing how to perform the basic tasks you were presumably hired to the station to perform in the first place", y'know? From what I remember a bit of reading did more to enable entertaining screw-ups than prevent them, anyway.

What do you mean by portable? You can download a .zip of BYOND that you can run it out of once you extract it. It's just on the BYOND website. Most servers require you to have 509 at least now.
