It was probably a badly-implement feature with a horrendous memory leak that was present in an old fork and lies forgotten on someone's partition on a Unix machine in a university basement.

Do miners have maint axcess? Because if not laborers could.

For bonus points, make a factory. Have it under the HoP and staffed by laborers. Think big, inefficient autolathes that have a backlog.
So basically Assistant+ with mining access?  ???
Could be more like a mix of Miners and engineers how mine but also fix things.

Uhh...when I said Laborers, I meant as in Labor Camp.  People starting in there with a bunch of points, doing at least SOME mining, and then getting reassigned to something else.  This way people are more likely to get some mats for science, and then can do whatever they want after.  With how willing everyone is to do minor crimes, this will give people at least SOME reason to spend most of the round dicking around and stealing everything.  AND they help the station at the start.  This would be great for science, robotics, assistants who wanna do SOMEthing useful, and Minermir, who I always imagined as a drunken ex-con anyways.

I don't think anyone plays assistant with the intent to be useful, b_knight.  :P

Had another amazing round, this server is really getting me back into *playing* SS13 instead of just coding.  I probably shouldn't criticize the /tg/station playstyle, since it can be fun too, but I love the level of RP that goes on here.  I also felt very welcome despite nobody knowing my character.  I was able to have interesting conversations, let the meta out of my decisions, and actually get immersed in the RP.

My favorite round ever happened on this server, too, months ago: http://www.ss13.eu/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=57&p=7116&#p7116

Haha, I remember that. I was the inspector. I really gotta do more of those, they're pretty fun.

WIP Syndicate fluff, since I'm going to be kinda busy. Feel free to use, reuse, abuse, ignore, and criticize. Including some faction ideas not taken from /tg/.

Selfquote. I'd like some feedback before I'll continue.

Also, an IRC channel would be much better than a steam group. There's an IRC script to redirect ahelps to a channel.
