Searching around for more materials you returned to your camp with a small armful of logs a few large rocks and a wonderful plan for what to do with them. Grabbing two of the large rocks you set one on the ground and, using the other, crushed it with all your might hoping to make some sharp rocks. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. Looking at the collection of less than sharp pebbles you cursed and grabbed another rock. With a might heave you brought your “sharpening rock” down with all your might and the secondary rock shattered into several fragments with 5 of them being more than perfect for sharpening. With a small sigh you sat upon one of your logs and began sharpening the most promising. No… You didn’t sharpen it. You shaped it. Crafted it with careful hands. Most fools only sharpened a stick and thought of it as a spear. You knew the difference.

Laboring for an hour you carefully removed bark and shaped the log into a killing instrument that any soldier would envy. Surely it was only wood but still it was a beautiful creation. Admiring your work you practiced with it for an hour before deciding that it was acceptable. Settling down with a smile you slept soundly through the night. Wondrous thoughts going through your head.

Heading back to the meeting place you decided to try impressing the locals with a show of magic. Casting Provide Light you were pleased to see that most, if not all, were impressed with your grasp of the arcane. Granted such a backwoods place probably didn’t get many magic attuned visitors.

When you arrived at the meeting place you shared what information you had and were greeted with some information in return. With your stomach howling for sustenance you figured you’d consider meeting up with Yorg tomorrow. For now however you needed sleep.

Concentrating on what you wanted you sent out  a wave of mana with creating light in mind. To your surprise instead of the gentle light caused by Provide Light a nearly painful Flare of light erupted from your hands causing your vision to leave you for several moments leaving nothing but a white screen. Blinking your eyes several times you eventually managed to see again. While the pain appeared to be non-lethal is was very distracting and the Flare itself could probably be used to flee or attack with relative safety.

Pondering on it you considered if whether Flare simply released all of Provide Light’s light all at once… Well that was a question more suited for a mage than yourself. Besides your eyes hurt like a rock to the face still. You listened half heartedly to your companions when you returned to the meeting spot and then fell asleep while cursing the pain in your eyes which was only now beginning to subside.

Well perhaps Eljim wouldn’t miss the dagger but you certainly didn’t want to deal with stealing it… Not to mention that you refused to lower yourself to using a dagger… No matter how well made. Though by the time Eljim the Long-winded [as you decided to call him privately] was done regailing you with tales of the good ol’ days you were almost seriously considering changing your mind on that long enough to kill the old man… Still you did you job and returned within minutes.

“’ey! You’re back prett’ early. I supposed you’d just as like run o’ with it.”

“Yeah well no… Now my payment.”

“Ah yes. Tha’… Well here ya go. I’ll gi’ ya more if ya bring me the clerics.” Yorg said tossing you a small gold coin.

“This is it?”

“Ya delivered a dagger to an ol’ man down the stree’… You’re lucky I felt generous. Wha’ d’ya need money for anyway? Don’ you usually run wit’hem patrols?”

“I wanted to buy a sword.”

“Fer one gold? Nah likely. You’re one six o’ the way there though. Do a few more tasks for me tomorra and I might see fit to gi’ ya the sword.”

“Well… Maybe. For now I’ll be going.”

“See ya kiddo.”

Heading back to your meeting place you told the clerics of what you knew and went to sleep slightly disappointed.
