I think "forgotten beast" is ambiguous and mysterious as it is.

I didn't know what they were, but in my second fort I wanted to see one. So I figured out the z-axis (embarrassingly, my first fort only used one axis because the controls confused me too much). And I dug down. To the caverns. And then forgot about it. When the beasts started showing up, my thought was, "oh, how cool". And then I ignored it. And then everything...horrible, everything horrible, so much rotting and miasma, babies being born, and crawling from incapacitated mothers, and getting the stuff on them, everyone rotting alive...yeah.

You can't really ruin forgotten beasts. *spoiler* on the other hand is a straight up prank pulled by Toady
