This is interesting: http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/interactive/2012/jul/02/drug-use-map-world
World map by country, usage and type of drug. Middle east is strong on opiates, and island-states are apparently crazy about amphetamines. But mostly rich western countries, obviously.

I still have the... instinct (?) to associate drug use with lower social circles, probably linked to the fact that 99% of my knowledge about this comes from mass media, so excuse me for a while, I will scour the internet for some actual facts. I also extrapolate my personal experience on others (I am educated and financially free, and I'd never take drugs, so automatically all similar people will never take drugs. Its a mistake I make constantly. I take myself as a norm and start comparing, bad habit.)

Edit: Still reading, but yeah... every group takes different kind of drugs. England for example, rich people use more cocain, poor people use more cannabis/amphetamines.
Edit2: Surprisingly, only 95.3% of the german population drinks alcohol. ^^

Edit3: I think I will just leave it at that. This is not really my field of expertise. ;) I wont make any misinformed statements, but will personally still refer to drug-using people as stupid. :P

I think it has more to do with poor people and stupid people (they're two separate groups that occasionally overlap in this case) being more likely to openly admit to using drugs.

But I have absolutely no evidence or source to back this up, so it is purely conjecture based on personal experience. (I have experience both being around, and personally being poor, stupid, and a drug user. Not necessarily all at the same time, mind you.)

Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, Aldous Huxley, Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Charles Dickens, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Bob Marley, Albert Hofmann, (probably) William Shakespeare, Lewis Carrol, Winston Churchill, Aleister Crowley, Salvador Dali, Ben Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Thomas Jefferson, Jesus, Mohammed, Pablo Picasso and Edgar Allen Poe are among the legions who would like a word with you.

It actually turns out that many studies show those with higher IQs are more inclined towards drug use.

Personally, I think people who are in to extreme sports are stupid.  All the risk and none of the pleasure.

Didn't Dali use sleep deprivation instead of drugs?

Also, Lewis Carrol is a bit iffy. I've read conflicting things, some saying drugs, others saying some type of neurological condition that made him unable to see proportions correctly.

The rest though, along with Carl Sagan, are good from my knowledge though.

Sleep deprivation is your body drugging you :P With similar negative consequences should it be overdone.

Between C and B. Spending money on drugs (including alcohol) is silly at the least, and potentially harmful to others due to supporting the drug cartel, but I'd probably be stoned at least once a week if I could grow it for myself without possible risk of jail. I'll just say when I tried it, it had some interesting effects on my concentration levels and imagination. I don't think I'd want to go into other crap, I'm not looking to be lying on the floor drooling, just some light alteration of perspective.

A bit late, but F.

Drugs of any kind (yes, that includes shit like high-fructose corn syrup, or the extra-charred bits of an overdone steak) are the user's responsibility to understand and prepare for, before use. Stigmatization of users in popular media to forward a political agenda does nothing but stir the pot for the sake of polarization and the conservative vote. Labeling only specific substances "toxins" is a part of that agenda; that's a loaded word with its own set of connotations that discourages further research.

That said, I never engaged in much more psychoactive than vodka, because I had neither the disposable income nor the time to devote to such hobbies. I don't particularly think people who do X or Y are inherently stupid, but I DO think public awareness is skewed. It's every person's responsibility (there's that word again) to educate themselves and take precautions, whether that means a designated driver, babysitter, cutting back on mountain dew, or not doing meth made from rat poison. For that matter, the same goes for ANYthing, including sex and religion.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Why bother considering these drugs? May as well say you'll never live in a city because of the psychoactive effects of smog.

Listen up: making a thing a ‼thing‼ doesn't make it more awesome or extreme.  It simply indicates the thing is on fire.  Get it right or look like a silly poser.

It's useful to keep a ‼torch‼ handy.

The analogy wasn't directed toward the post as a whole, just the consideration of such common things with minor effects to be drugs. Sorry if the aversion part confused things.

Understanding and preparing before use of serious drugs is a point that I think everyone agrees with. But one cannot bother to understand everything that has an effect on them because everything they encounter affects them. The choice of cereal vs. waffles for breakfast has an effect, but is it worth considering as much? I don't think that's what this topic is focused on; I'm only questioning the labeling, not the value of the post.

Why is spending money on drugs sillier than going to the movie theater? Or any other way to spend ten bucks purely on a couple hours of enjoyment.

It's overpriced. You're either spending way more than 10 for something besides weed, or you're spending anything at all on something that can grow wild in rather temperate climates. I don't spend money on movies, either, and yeah, I think it's silly that other people do :P Do I stop them? Nope, spend all the money you like, and take me with because it's awesome of you to waste money on me hurfdurf mooch-city. In return you get really good hugs, and a valuable lesson about life.

Take a tolerance break or get a better hookup

And a tab of lucy will last you all night and their about 10 bucks. But granted you'd probably want at least 2 for a good time, personally I wouldn't want to take less than 3

They're £5 down by me and one is definitely enough.

Well one is usually enough to get decent visuals, giggle at my hands and such. But I prefer very large doses of it myself.
