I'm kind of a mix between A and B. I'm not as extreme as A, in that I don't want any user locked away, but I do believe they can be harmful. Not in the short term, but some can damage mental health in the long term. Also, I'd personally never try them because I don't like the idea of what it can do. I want to be in control of my actions and don't want want them to be altered. If it helps, I also don't enjoy alcohol. :P
Just my idea.

I believe that psychoactive substances are perfectly fine, as long as you take proper precautions. (ie, make sure that someone who isn't partaking of the substance in question to keep an eye on you.)

This would be better suited for General Discussion

See, I don't (personally) feel as though it's for shits and giggles (in my particular case). I feel as though it's an qlmost religious experience (or at least as close to one as an atheist can get) because I constantly have misgivings about the veracity of 'reality' and psychoactives manipulate my perceptions of it.

Fair enough, but most people I've met who take drugs say they do it because they like it, which I definitely wouldn't. I don't feel the need to manipulate my perception of reality either, so I'd rather stay on the safe side. :P

Don't care what people put in their own bodies, as long as it doesn't endanger me.
I don't really use any drug regularly, aside from a glass of scotch once or twice a month.  I'm open minded though as long as the substance isn't super addictive or dangerous.

I suppose C.  I have nothing against drugs, and occasionally use them in a social situation if people are handing them out.  I don't go out and buy them myself, and I don't use anything addictive or that I haven't researched some.

For the most part, they don't really interest me.  I prefer booze.

You could use the poll option in the top right, bottom right.

a/B, capitalization intended. Not going to use, I do think the actions of many of them is harmful as hell, and in case of some drugs, people who use them REALLY should be restrained before they stab you to death and chew on your lung (case in point: PCP (phencyclidine, 'angel dust'), which is pretty much the real life equivalent to Valkyr).

Then from observing my father's nicotine habit (along with some interest in Psychology), I've noticed that the Drug Side works in subtle ways, and it may be difficult to discern a real reason from rationalization - fun fact, human brain makes excuses for everything we make basically every second.

I'm confused. I've seen addiction twice with people who were very close to me and it was a terrible thing, but I know that banning drugs is not the answer. In at least one of those cases however it was a case of alcoholism, not addiction to class A's. We need to think outside the box to deal with this problem.

Honestly, I guess legalization of the less harmful (non-physically addicting, not causing psychotic breaks, etc.) drugs and placing those under official control could remedy the problem. I doubt people take drugs to go on killing sprees, they probably take them for the same reason they drink or smoke (which I don't indulge in either) - to feel the pleasant effects of the drug. Thus, making them available and controlled would reduce the danger to the drug users, cut the profits from criminal organizations, and so on, but I am quite ambivalent towards this solution.

Also, the problem with addiction is twofold: first, physical addiction, caused by the integration of drugs' effects into normal functioning of the body, so when it is withdrawn, body freaks out, usually in the opposite direction to the drug's action. This includes alcohol, which has a depressing action, so when it is withdrawn, the neural system results in excessive excitation, when you think of it. Curing physical addiction in itself is the issue of restoring the body's functions back to the state where it works without the aid of drugs.

Then there is psychological addiction, which the root of the problem. People take drugs and experience positive reinforcement, they are more inclined to take them again. People take drugs and feel bad when they stop taking it, they are less inclined to stop taking them. Conditioning at its most basic form. And reason why would they use drugs in the first place? There are so many possible reasons that it's not even worth going there.
