I have to agree that the NPC's in this game are top-notch.
Though to be fair about Johnny, I don't think the Stanger was hiding at the card game.

Well, it's hard to confirm or deny. On one hand, you got the fact that everyone was uncomfortable around the Stranger, even Vimes. On the other, even with the weird collection of people at the game, someone would comment on it, even in just a snarky aside.

Natural SEP field.

Basically, a system that reinforces the brain's automated sanity protection systems. It allows them to ignore those things that are so strange that they certainly have to be someone elses problem.

Edit: On another note. Busy writing up yet another questionable technology.

If I was going to unnecessarily reference a certain sci-fi setting, I'd say the Stanger was a Pariah.
But I didn't, so I won't/

And yet, that raises the question of why exactly Johnny doesn't have that system.

Err, can I assume Jack did see him, gasmask and all? I'll go with that if it's my preference. It's not a big deal to her, anyway - she knows some weeeeird gamblers.

Reason for Johnny not having that is obvious.

That'd be fine. I was about to write a PM about what the Stranger exactly is, buuuut let's just say that can wait for when the Stranger actually interacts with someone who is more impartial. AKA, not a god or somehow more related to the situation then one would think.

Yeah, don't reveal the secret unduly.

That's the problem with trying to make a story-based forum game. You have to always make sure your players are on the same boat as you, while making sure they don't know enough to cause tension.

Win goes to Caesar by default.
Nope. A win is not a win for me if it is without effort. The rule is that I only get to win if I put huge, implausible amounts of effort into something and for some reason chose the hard road to do it instead of the easy one. Everything else is a loss.

Speaking of which, what did you actually change in your post earlier, Caesar? Just removed one bit

I removed most of the strange and quirky behavior Red displayed in the end. Because, to be honest- It just didn't fit him. He's more of a grim-dark character who tries desperately to be a flame of hope than a clown who is just joking around and inviting women he doesn't know to a date.

Not that he doesn't still think that the opera would be a good location to talk. But that is because he likes the opera and it is inconspicuous.

I can make a vague half promise that I might possibly have it up tonight.
I know what I'm going to do, just need to write it.
