Seems completely dead in the water. Considering they only wanted $7k, I think they basically paid their rent and quit the project.

I know cult is a touchy subject since it was a project by a bay12er AFAIK, and this is likely not the proper topic for this discussion, but what exactly happened to it? There was an article on beefjack on his reasons for not working on it anymore, which is now mysteriously gone, but I think the community deserves a real explanation for what happened to it.

I think the explanation is really just as simple as it sounds. He promised far more than he could reasonably handle, got overwhelmed, lost interest, then quit. It's probably literally the most common story amongst fledgling game devs, and the only noteworthy part of it is that he actually took money for it.

And then he handled actually explaining this to people in the absolute worst way possible.
