Month 3, Year 1, spearbog, unnamed village

You order planting to begin for more reeds. It's a quick fix, but you imagine you will find more suitable food sources later. The soil swallows up all of the seeds and is furrowed nicely. If only this land could find the decency to rain. The sun will help them grow but it is more than a tad annoying, which reminds you...

You also organize a small building team made up of gammas and they manage to get up a couple huts and also a thatch roofed longhouse. None of these structures are permanent, but they are quite a nice upgrade from exposure to the elements. The people rejoice quietly as they huddle together near the fire.

You consider sending a scouting party to the yellow tower again but decide against it, seeing as you have more to worry about getting set up here. Fishing also comes up for a moment and you decide against it, looking at how your people are spread between tasks, caring for the field and setting up shelters.

As you are about to sit down for a meal of reed cake and zori frog your shaman approaches you.

"I spoke with the spirit. Bog spirits are usually quite stubborn and this one is no exception. It did help that we are creatures of the swamp, but it will not permit us it's blessing of living here unless we prepare an offering, and not permit destructive elements to take residence or enter the swamp. I think the meeting went as well as it could have gone."

Her dry voice is slow to reply "It's really up to you. It is a spirit, not a god, so it needn't be a shrine or temple or something large. Usually though, spirits of a certain place prefer foreign objects as offerings. If you offer something you found in the area they dictate, after all, it is like stealing and then returning it."

We could probably find something appropriate in the yellow tower.

We could probably find something appropriate in the yellow tower.
that, or we could offer something we brought from our original village (or wherever we came from). An animal sacrifice maybe?

EA games is like the dark lord sauron, and the gaming consumer demographic is like gollum.

(I- uh- is this a suggestion? I don't understand guys.)

Month 4, Year 1, Spearbog, Unnamed Village

You decide as the month begins to complete the tasks you had set out for yourself last month. First you setup a a small scouting party to look into the yellow tower more in-depth. They grab a couple of zori frogs and start off with 2 of your spear in case they find something inside the tower that needs to be ventilated.

You have another group begin working on a raft for fishing with. It takes about a week but you manage to get a (relatively) effective raft set up after hacking up a felled marrow wood and tying the logs together. The structure is loose but you figure it will hold together for the most part.

After about a week or so of fishing in the ocean in different spots you conclude that, yes, there are in fact fish in the water, and a whole hell of a lot as evidenced by the amount they carried back. Some of the gammas say they saw large branches of coral reaching out in the water and the water looked absolutely teaming with life. Further than that point it managed to get harder to see into the water that deep and the water became to difficult to traverse, lest the raft break apart. They notice that the reef is right along the coast to the east and most of the ocean near our beach was clear save for a lot of seaweed.

The scouts arrive near the end of the month with nothing in hand. Dismayed by this you approach the beta leading the scouting mission. She tells you that the tower is inhabited by strange birdlike creatures. She describes them as birds with no wings but arms with long fingers, straight black beaks, a bent hunched back, about the size of a human, featherless, and skin that is to loose for their bones. The only reason she didn't order a march on the tower was because she was severeley outnumbered and didn't know how many were actually living inside the tower. At one point the party witnessed a wagon filled with cloaked figures smelling of ash and decay wheeling up to, and then leaving the tower hours later. The party followed the wagon and found that a small path turned into a secluded dirt road further out until the forest cleared. That is where the party stopped because they didn't want to be revealed.

Interesting news. What now?

Yeah, happens when you have too few people posting, you really need at least 4, ideally 6.

Ewww, vulture men......(or condor)

I say we construct heavier canoes(or boats), so we may get us some more fishes
We should also make our people spear us some fish, for some offerings
