Because he was the first to post. I thought that the thief would be the most likely to post first, since they would have gotten a PM.

Let's talk strategy, guys.
If we put an equal number of votes on everyone, we're losing points for no reason, since the pot is halved if the theif is tied for most votes. There are five players, so I suggest we vote for 2-3 people, so we can split ourselves into two groups, people we know are not the thief, and paople we don't know are not the thief.
If the pool is given to the thief, then the thief is in the group that was not voted for. If the pool is redestributed, then the thief is in the group that was voted for.

And here I was, hoping for a strategic tracking of the thief over multiple rounds, with it not being known what happened to the pot, bluffing about betting more points than you have and the person who was voted being essentially a confirmed townie and so on. Screw this, I'm out.

I was hoping for the same thing. This is kinda simplistic.
If you're not the thief, the best move is to put in as little as possible, because there's not much chance of catching the thief.
If you are the thief, the best move is to put in as little as possible, so that those points aren't halved (and, of course, to reduce suspicion).

Anyways...I vote mcclay in case Nerjin was lying and he is the thief again.

Would everyone be alright with a small roll-back? The current thief would stay the same. Observer's continue to change between rounds. No point changes unfortunately.
