Anyone know how I can record just audio if, say, I'm playing in a video game? Audacity won't let me.

Before you go with this option, make sure that no audio from Audacity is playing through the speaker: Place your mic in front of the speaker, and hit record.

Otherwise, screen capture software (as for internet streaming) might be the most ideal option if you have a way to separate the audio from the video files.

If you detune a guitar to be lower than normal, it's a "drop" tuning. Standard Tuning is EADGBE. "Drop D" lowers the lowest string by one note, to DADGBE, for a lower sound.

Obviously, Drop Q can only be played if you're playing tr00 kvlt br00tal metals.

Actually, drop tunings are drop versions of standard tunings. B standard and Drop A, for example.

Very slowly. I can't seem to find a bit of software that will let me record while Rocksmith is running (because I'm too cheap to shell out for Fraps.) Also, I'm not sure if I will be able to play anything that won't drown out the piano.

I can't think of a solution for the first part off the top of my head, but if you wanted you could just record the guitar part and then someone with the software/knowhow to balance stuff out can do it later.

Audacity won't do it, unless I'm doing something very wrong. It tries to record directly from the guitar, which is not what I want, because without the game, the guitar isn't run through an amp and sounds like shit (although, that's mostly my playing that has that effect.)

Edit: I may have figured it out. Gimme a sec.
Edit Again: Maybe not. I'm able to record windows sounds now, but I have a hellacious echo (and no, it's not part of the amp.) Once I figure out a) a decent rhythm to lay down for the piece and b) how to stop sounding like shit, I'll post something. Until then, if someone else has something, it'd probably be best for them to go. Screw turns, just post.

You should be able to record the speaker output, or specify which program to read from. I'll look up how to do that again...
