The Gen II version of IVs. Basically, an inherent but hidden boost to the Pokemon's stats. The calculator I use doesn't show them all directly, only ranges. Shinies are guarenteed to have max DVs, I think, but they removed this in later gens.

Well, it seems like Pokemon Emerald has all but won. Now I'm in a similar boat as Freeformschooler in that Pokemon Emerald absolutely has no interest for me, so I'll be doing my own thing in Pokemon FireRed. That shouldn't stop you guys from having fun! Seeing as Freeformschooler is doing his own LP, I'll be going with Kenseti's suggestion and dropping random typing. Unless people suddenly jump out of the woodwork and complain... Anyways I'll randomize the ROM and get the presets/seeds up in an hour or two. Should be enough time for anybody to object if they want to.

Also, one last thing: Burning Fire Pidgey, Sensible Ground Oddish, or Boring Fighting Machop?

This happens literally every time I faint a wild Pokemon. Unfortunately, I think that somehow the randomizer screwed up the game as the original file plays fine. I may have to end up starting over and doing a different LP or giving up. Sorry guys.

After some testing I'm 90% sure that it's the B/W Exp patch that's causing it to crash, unfortunately. Can you try making a new random ROM without the patch and see if that works? Or maybe you've already realized this and have started over already. Bah.

Me and the Prof. went back to his lab. He was acting scatterbrained as usual, but I was willing to put up with anything to get my mitts on a Pokemon.

Oak's Pokemon hadn't survived the Change as much as I'd hope. Still, a Pokemon's a Pokemon, and I was eager for whatever I could get.



The Prof. had a bird that burst into flames if you so much as looked at it. I sure wasn't going to touch it.



The Oddish hadn't mutated much, but, well, it's an Oddish. I'd seen more threatening clouds then that thing.



Hot damn. Just what I was looking for. A real life Machop, and it looked like he'd made it through unscathed. It was love at first sight.

Mother F- Random class generator has bit me in the ass. Hopefully he won't carry it through the entire game (though actually that'd be kinda awesome.) Also, let's ditch the story bits for a bit and see how Wallop is, eh?



This... bodes kinda well, actually. Fighting/Dark is weak only to Flying and Fighting (oddly enough). Dark/Ghost/Rock should only do half damage, while Psychic does jack and squat. Or at least that's how it'd work in Gen V. It'd probably be the same in Gen III though. Mind you-



Having worked on the starters for Pokemon Orthoclase/Microcline, I have grown to loathe the opening for FireRed. Just a fun fact.



Anyways Wallop is only a pure Fighting type for now. Hopefully Knock-off wasn't a random thing, and he'll become Fighting/Dark later. Or maybe some other useful combination. I'd take Poison or Steel if I had a choice. Ghost would be sweet too.



I'm not entirely sure how to determine a Pokemon's general stats at level 5, but it looks like Wallop is pretty balanced so far. He's certainly leaning towards Attack, Defence and Special Defence, oddly enough. Special Attack and Speed look like dump stats, and no clue about HP.



SHUT UP OAK, NO ONE LIKES YOU.

Anyways Knock Off is pretty crappy. Even with two Bulk Ups it barely scratches Oddish. And Knock Off wasn't resisted too. Oddish is tough indeed.



Luckily my two Bulk Ups meant that Oddish did similar damage to me. I probably should have kept using the move some more though, to buff my defence/offence.



Yeah... Thank god for the free potion though!



Certainly saved my ass here.



Nothing too special, though I'm glad that attack is one of Wallop's better stats. It's certainly going to help me a lot.

Emerald ROM is generated! I decided to forgo the race mode, in case someone wanted to look at the log file later on (or as a PM or whatever). So no checksums, but I'll see what the starting Pokemon are, and if they match your game then they're probably the same. Either that, or you're very, very lucky. I would ask if you were using the executable jar file, but...

Have you checked to see if the Advance.tbl file exists? It should be in the config folder, which is located in the same folder as the .jar. If Advance.tbl does exist, then I would download the program again, or look for another version, because it should be working fine. Just my two bits.

It's at this point that I realize Cubone doesn't have any moves except Growl and Tail Whip.
