There's no law against it.

It might conflict with 'separation of church and state', but theres no law saying you can't be pope an president at the same time.

There is, though.

Quote from: The Constitution
No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Personholding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Does the Vatican count as foreign?

That would only count if they became Pope while they were President. If they're already Pope they can become President.

And even then, if Congress agreed to it, the President could become Pope.

Does the Vatican count as foreign?

Considering the United States has an embassy in the Vatican City, I would say that pretty definitely makes it foreign.  Also, the cushiest fucking job in the world.

Anyway I've got ten bucks riding on the next Pope being another musty white guy from east of the Rhine and north of Macedon.  Any takers against?

I think they might go with Turkson. The US broke the "leader is a black guy even though the majority of the population is not black" taboo, so it's now a no-holds barred electing-black-guys competition.

And the aforementioned demographic shift of the Catholic Church. Mostly that, actually.

The American Pope might be nice, though. The US could certainly benefit from the Papal Controller modifier in this age of economic uncertainty. Plus we could totally build a military base inside the Vatican and nobody could stop us.

Zeus has actually been imprisoned in Tartarus, along with the rest of the Pantheon, for the past 1300 years. The Vatican is on top of the entrance, which is a giant horizontal door in the ground. It'll open when Rome is destroyed following the Prophecy of the Popes, and spell the end of the world as everybody is struck by lighting and/or seduced by Zeus.

I'll admit it's just a guess.  I consider Thor also a possibility; YHWH doesn't really seem the stormy type and I don't remember ever reading about any smites-via-lightning in the Bible.  He's more of a pestilence dude from what I've seen, which is pretty sweet in itself.

Nothing, they're dead as hell. Hera smites everyone who her husband takes interest in.

That, or he'd take the form of a bull when seducing them. Either way, dead.

Fade into obscurity as their adventurous offspring go kill monsters and get killed by other gods and shit.

I've always thought the Ancient Mediterraneans must have been pretty easy to seduce, considering how often they wind up fathering/mothering godly kids by way of a divine bull or swan or whatever.
