Aaaand the fine people in the Duma just approved a right-to-be-forgotten law. Which enables an upstanding (read: rich) citizen concerned with his or her reputation to bully search service providers (read: Yandex) into removal of information that is "untrue or no longer relevant". Of course, to prove that the information in question is no longer relevant, one needs a pack of lawyers and spending money for a court process, which a poor citizen might not actually have or be willing to spend.
Plus, if Yasha tells all his friends on Vk or Facebook or whatever that Misha has a wart on his ass, Misha is probably unconcerned about that. However, if a bunch of Mishas and Yashas are talkin' shit about the ass and/or financial habits and moral character of upstanding citizen Somethingsomethingsky, CEO of Whateverindustries Inc., then it gives the upstanding citizen a way to rid himself of these ruffians. Which is very convenient for an atmosphere of civil discourse, am I not right, gentlemen?
I confess to not having read the full text of the law yet, but I think I see what it is aimed at. Obviously, I might be wrong. That happens to me all the time.

Nothing prevents you from using international search engines and circumventing such a law.

I heard France (which already has such a law) was trying to do something about it, but I doubt they'll get anywhere.

So the suppression of information isn't a problem because if you know it's suppressed you can get around it.

I already mostly use international search engines, so I don't need to know anything to circumvent that law, actually :-X

I kinda like Yandex, though, and so does the majority of this country's population, according to the Internet, which wouldn't lie to me. It's a bit of dickery in favor of the rich. I'm not saying it's the endoftheworldohgodwhereisrussiagoingbillionsshotpersonallybyputin, but I don't like it none.
I think Italy, France and Argentine have similar laws, though I might be mistaken.

E: it might also be possible to bully regional subsections of international search engines (e.g., google.ru). At least, a Wikipedia article tells me there was precedent in Argentine.

We got a EU-wide law that is more or less similar.

Speed bumps in Mario Kart sounds hilarious though.
Even more hilarious would be moving speed bumps that aim at the leading player.

... didn't some of the mario kart levels actually have speed bumps, though? Usually as obstacles to be avoided. I distinctly remember raised bars in the ground that would bump you around and slow you down if you drove over them.

Mario kart's speed bumps can be seriously abused though.

A well timed mushroom activation near one will rocket the kart over the top of walls and other physical obstacles, including other karts. This was VERY useful for shortcutting large sections of track.

I guess you might be able to jump a wall if you hit a real speedbump going fast enough? You might need something fairly low to the ground, and I think there's a good chance you wouldn't land wheels down, but still.

EU - websites are liable for user comments

I'd put this in the WTF thread, but it probably fits here.
