NATO member supporting an enemy of NATO absolutely should be NATO's concern, because allowing your members to get away with shit like this leads to erosion of alliance and it's precisely the reason why Baltic countries seriously doubt if NATO is going to defend them.

I don't remember Iraq or Syria trying to join NATO. ISIS is only an enemy of NATO in the sense that it is a general enemy of the human race. Its existence certainly doesn't trigger article 5 until it attacks Turkey.

Yes, unlike what is often claimed or hinted at in the media, NATO isn't a single entity but more or less loose alliance of countries that guarantee each others sovereignty and work together in developing and maintaining the capabilities to do that. Sometimes USA and UK have a war in the middle east that costs them several times more than what they benefit, or France pokes everyone else in the eye because they dont feel respected enough.

They have had that chance, and did not take it. They might be mad, but they are not stupid enough to force the hand of their enemies that would end them and have the capacity to do so.

Anyway, they can be treated with human dignity. If they are there illegally according to the laws of the country, then they should be treated in a dignified manner on their return trip.

Of course, if they are lawful immigrants according to the laws of the land, they should be given as much help as native homeless people.
