The BBC live feed claims the SNP are ahead of Labour in Renfrewshire East.

Could it be true that SLabour's leader will lose his seat? I certainly hope so.

It's been rather remarkable really. The Westminster parties changed direction so fast after the referendum I'm surprised none of them got whiplash.

Some are more trustworthy than others. For example, I'd trust the SNP to go improve the NHS more than I would the Tories.

I really wanted that unicorn. 

But the part that's been getting pointed out by Yes voters for a while now is how fast things went from 'Don't leave! We love you and want you to have a say in our lives!' to 'Scottish MPs? This is a travesty of untold scale!'

Yeah, but in the last days before the Scottish referendum, both the Tories and Labour were promising ridiculous things that most people knew they'd never actually deliver. What was shocking was how blatantly they didn't deliver. It wasn't "Oh, we introduced bills to do those things, but then they got stuck in committee and then you know...politics and rules of order and blah blah blah".

It was just "They didn't leave? Right! Back to business as normal then. Tallyho."

Sounds promising. If whatever members of UKIP manage to become MPs don't even include their own leader I'll have myself a good laugh.

538 is still predicting that Labour+SNP could combine to eke out a very slim majority without even getting the Lib Dems on board.  They are predicting some reversion to the mean compared to the exit poll of course.

Edit: wait no, it's 326 for majority not 316 for majority.

I can't sleep. This is incredible. BBCis reporting a Labour member at the count in Bathgate was seen in tears telling the (ex)Labour MP "I just wish there was more we could have done".

I'm hearing rumours all of Glasgow has turned Yellow.

So when does the campaign to reclaim Berwick upon Tweed start?  Or maybe you could put the "Scots" back in "Ulster Scots".

I was looking that up a few days ago and it's one of the bits where our lack of a formal constitution makes things murky. 

Some of the sources I looked at said yes, others said that by parliamentary convention the opposition doesn't actually need a majority, it just needs the previous government to have lost it's majority in order to form a government but it can be dissolved if it fails to attain a majority.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but one of the reforms passed during the coalition changed the terms of government length. As I understand it once a government is formed now it's unable to be removed until it's completed it's term, which might allow for a minority government to form that can't actually do anything.

Not sure as to the validity of the latter statement, my education has been more to do with what the innards of crabs do than parliamentary convention and legal interpretation. Personally I suspect we'll default to holding a new election if we can't form some kind of government.

I've backed annexation of South Berwick for some time. We'll have to see about whether Lesser Scotia (Scotland) considers union with Greater Scotia (Ireland).
