Since you asked, the minimum wage in North Carolina is $7.25, or £4.61, per hour.
There are a number of exceptions to this minimum as well.

For comparison, the highest minimum wage in the US is currently that of San Francisco, at $10.74/£6.83 per hour.

Well, I think Seattle just approved a 15 dollar minimum wage, and there was a city outside Seattle that also has had a 15 dollar minimum wage for... a year, I think?

Neither have come into effect. Seattle's wage increase won't come fully into play for some years, and I expect it'll have been repealed by then. The main drafter was a Socialist Alternative rep on the city council, and she'll have to survive an election cycle if she expects to watch over the implementation.

Wow, even a topic that explicitly has "European" in the title gets derailed by the American-centrism of this board...

Owlbread explicitly asked for American minimum wages, and complaining about derails is worse than derails.

I actually asked our American/Canadian/Australian friends to contribute so that we could compare our minimum wage with theirs. Earlier I compared the Scottish system where the UK government controls welfare with the system in Ontario where the minimum wage is devolved to the province.

EDIT:

Ninja'd by MSH. That's a shame about Seattle - a 15 dollar minimum hourly wage isn't far off the SNP's proposal.

Actually, all provinces and territories in Canada set their minimum wages. It's part of our constitution.

What is the highest minimum wage among the provinces?

They also control most/all welfare. "Ontario Works," "Ontario Disability Support Program," "Ontario Student Assistance Program," and etc. It's all "Ontario" something or other. Same for other provinces.

E: Nunavut and Ontario at 11 dollars. No jurisdiction is below 10.

It's not a sure thing, but it partially relies upon the re-election of a revolutionary democratic Trotskyist. Even in the communist hellhole of Seattle, that's asking for a lot.

Sweden also do not have a national minimum wage, and it is instead supposed to he handled by the unions. I am not 1000% on how exactly it works.

Owlbread explicitly asked for American minimum wages, and complaining about derails is worse than derails.

Especially since Europe (as well as other places) regularly butt into the ameripolitiks thread.

I have a general question (mostly to Europeans, but I would be somewhat interested in answers from outside of Old World, too):

Is homeschooling legal in your country?

While I wasn't homeschooled myself, I believe it's legal here in the US.

In Belgium, it is. You have to file some paperwork, and the child has to present exams at 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16. If he or she fails those (for the 2 earlier one,you can fail once), he or she has to go to school for at least one year.

You only have to go to school until 16 in Belgium, so the state doesn't really care about homeschooling after that, but there is one more exam you must pass if you want your high school diploma.

I had to look it up, because I didn't know that: as far as I know, it's nor really common here, and we never had a controversy about it.

No (Germany).

And here's a Wikipedia article about the legal status of homeschooling in various countries.
