It's nearly as strong as Russia's downtrend, I'll give it that.

Currency exchange rates can only tell us about the difference between exports and imports in the country. They say nothing about how the inner economy works.

What? Do you think that the only cause of inflation is export\import ratio?

Of course not.

I think I slightly misunderstood his statement. Instead of currency => economy as I though at first, it was economy => currency (which I agree with).

However, the first proposition (that the Belarus economy is dying) need better sources than the currency exchange rates, then.

With the exception of our opposition's failed endeavour of 2011, neither of the inflation waves brought upon any significant social outrage. Belarus is a small country which is quite dependent on imports, so very high inflation is way more harmful for us than it is for Russia, and yet Lukashenko still remains in power.

I used the data from this handy graph.

Pretty proud of that ridiculous inflation rate and dying economy not taking down dictator Luka yet, aren't you?
Can you express your ideas with a little bit less hostility, please? Such kind of flame bait posts is what killed the two Ukraine threads and countless other discussion threads here.

Also, tractors is not the only thing produced by manufacturing sector of the Belarusian economy.
EDIT: Furthermore, in my opinion, the epithet "dying" would be more applicable to the Belarusian economy of early 1990s.

Here is something that will dramatically change geopolitics in the next decades.

There was a ScienceDaily article on compact fusion about a week ago. Don't know whether it's the same team or not. don't think so:

And yes it'll affect geopolitics in many ways.

Would be great if true. But i am somewhat skeptic from what I see, as it looks more like some type of commercial for investors.

Lockheed Martin is a respectable company. Don't think it is empty words.

Prototype in five years does look overly optimistic but who knows?

Well they're expecting five design iterations before a full working prototype so that's where five years comes from.

USD/RUB
41.100
+0.598
+1.48%

And that with reserves being spent to stabilize Ruble....

Unless oil go back to $100+ Russia will have a hard 2015 year

Given their track record with F-35, I would recommend caution.

They're not the only team out there working on compact fusion. The one I linked to in the sciencedaily article looks like it has potential.
